Just happened to me - is there a quick fix?

disconnected the battery and that seems to have removed the short term problem - didn't fancy Le Mans this weekend without a fuel gauge.

You could also try filling up with Super Unleaded as this is allegedly supposed to fix the issue of your sender unit getting bunged up with crud.

It was Super - but my nearest garage is a Tesco.

Perhaps they still haven't sorted their fuel issues

Fingers crossed Very helpful Steve Talbot at Stratstone Milton keynes has in booked in Friday for a software upgrade their is a GM bullten on this. Did not fancy doing the Candy run Paris trip and Le Mans with this issue, I have to say he always seems very helpful at least the car is under warranty otherwise a trip to Ian Goss would be on the cards!
Will let you know how I get on..

The C5 fuel gauge problem could definitely be resolved by changing fuel; I've not had a problem for years. Don't know whether it's just as easy easy for C6.

Well, I left a message for him this evening - just after it happened.

The car had been at Milton Keynes for the last month for repairs (great service from Steve when the insurance people finally authorised it) and I only had it back last Friday.
At least the current tankfull will get used a damn site more quickly!

No problems with mine since disconnecting the battery and using a tank of french V-power.
I'll keep my eye on it...

The infamous fuel gauge problem is caused by suphur in the petrol clogging the tank sensors. I had it on my Vette in the US and ran a couple of bottles of techron through and it never reocurred. I'm sure there must be a similar fuel cleaner product in UK. The Top Tier gas over there contains Techron. I know shell and Texaco have similar additives.

The full fix is replacing the tank sensors but that needs a tank drop.
