Excellent - thank Brett. Didn't seem to be many spares loaded up, but then these are Corvettes.............

Last year they shipped something like 45 boxes (dunno how big a box is) which include 8 race engines, 8 transmissions / gear boxes and huge quantites of American wholesome food and drink as they don't trust them Frenchie's muck for the 2 plus weeks that the team will be in France!

I know they ship in Mountain Dew the drink of choice for a Corvette Racing mechanic smile

Thay doesn't include the two trucks trailers shipped from the USA containing the cars etc.

And they looked damn fine in the process.

They've installed what looks like the air-con in the boot space with a big cut away where the number plate should be for a fan.

The first four cars out in the afternoon session were vettes and you could hear them along the Mulsanne while standing on the Arnage corner.

The first thing you take is a Corvette.............

I prepared a pack a couple of days ago for a guy in the US who was coming for the first time. It has all the info on parking etc with maps, booking forms and suggested things to do. Let me have your email and I'll be glad send it to you as well.

A tent, a camping pass, a ferry crossing and some sunblock - forgot mine for the test day and now peeling badly!

There's a whole Le Mans thread further up the Gassing forums with helpful info and for sale stuff - such as the important camping passes

Woof - I've sent you the info. Don't but any camping passes or tickets etc from elsewhere until you've read the Corvette Package.

Yes, for a late booking first timer the Corvette package should be the perfect place to start.

So very very true!

At 01:45 this morning my hopes of making a 3rd appearance in the Pace car were up in plumes of steam sat on the M62 hard shoulder. A few hours later and the cars been dropped off at Nick Rydens, parts ordered tomorrow and hopefully back on the road by Tuesday. Fingers crossed!!

Going to Le Mans in anything but the Vette just wouldn't have been Le Mans.

Poor show! Just so that you remember, the Corvettes are the Y E L L O W cars, not the green ones with multi-coloured fly catching mouths.

Yer, I know but I only got the fly-by-wire sorted Saturday morning and I still have no speedo which is guaranteed to get me in trouble in France and with only one of two fuel tanks working it means my range is limited to about 100 miles between fuel stops meaning stopping about as often as a C6R does!
I also cannot afford for the car to breakdwon in France again as I don't have any time to collect it between Le Mans and the Furball. The car is really just too fast for road use too unless I want to spend a lot of time in a French jail.......having said all of this I am still torn between the vette and the Exige as to which I want to take.

What do you want a speedo for? confused You've got a rev counter haven't you?
Or you could plug in a sat nav which would give you your speed.

Do the French people wave as much at a Lotus sleep as they do at a Vette? waveywaveywaveywavey

100 miles between fill ups is, I agree, a little irritating - but think of the pleasure you will give to all those lesser mortals on the garage forecourts....bowbowbow
