Yep - doesn't seem to be the activity or banter that was here over the past few years any more.

Not much excitement here, but it's kicking off (again) on the CCCUK jokes thread Some people have no sense of humour...

CCCUK thread most amusing!

In fact, go back one page - garage tools gag gave me a giggle (it's a touch close to the truth...)

Yup, boring innit! But if none of us guys with earlier models are contributing, what do you expect!

Here we go (one of the older contributors with an older car but with a new topic)
Whats this with the US Postal Service. It seems that as from today (14th) items purchased in the USA (typically off Ebay) and shipped to UK will be subject to significant changes in which service sends item (read as significantly more expensive!)

US Postal service must have been bought by the British Government........pirces up service down should be Mr. B. Liars government motto.

Sorry I haven't been posting very much recently but have been working very hard (yes I know that doesn't sound like me) and have also been away every weekend for the last few weeks so having to catch up on home type jobs in the evenings.

I have just looked at sending a 12 kg package to France, £57.90 Global Priority or £42.40 International Standard. All this for a £20 item !

It will be down to the additional security measures for posting to a country riddled with terrorists!

Who is going to the Nationals? I really want to make the effort and go this year. Its just around the corner from where I work so I might stay over on the Friday night and turn up in the morning. Anyone fancy trashing some brain cells in the Marriott on Friday night ??

There's already 17 CCCUK rooms booked for the Friday so no doubt many will be in the bar Friday (and Saturday) but there is a cruise to Buddies first to line those stomachs.

How about a discussion on when a diesel powered Vette will become available. Or perhaps if someone has dropped a Diesel engine into a Vette (as if, only joking!!!!!!)

Hmm, diesel powered Vette. Whilst enjoying about 18mpg at the moment (average with very gentle driving), it does get harder to want to do lots of miles knowing the wallet is being emptied at a rate!

Having driven a few of the VAG diesels I have to say they are catching up (in fact, in many cases arguably even passed) the petrol engines. But it's probalby like having a mid engined Vette, it may be something coming into 'vogue' but would it be in the Corvette spirit?

In Practical Performance Car, someone's building a Westfield (or is it a Caterham) with a diesel motor, haven't read it lately so don't know how he's getting on.

Interesting that while most diesel manufacturers with engines up to 2 Ltr (excepting Honda and larger engined Mercs & Bm's) seem to overboost the engine so that max power comes in from 2000 to 3000 rpm making a six speed gearbox essential (against all logic with an engine developing high torque) VW/Audi group twin clutched DSG geared diesel cars seem to make this characteristic an advantage. I recently drove a A3 with this transmission and it was smoother than a conventional auto except perhaps when pulling away from rest.

Sciencebird has the Fabia vRS with the 1.9 L diesel and a six speed box. In truth, such is the flexibility of the engine, frequently gears 2,4 and 5 are seldom required! Albeit for quickest progress then I guess more of these ratios are useful.
