Had the `change oil` light come on today in the Z06. I`ve done about 5k in it. Is this correct? The cars around 8 months old. Spoke with Stratstone (Birmingham) and they said 12 months / 12k.
Booked the car in for tomorrow.......
Line of questioning went like this- name, reg no, is it a coupe, is it a diesel, is it a manual. Wonder if other `supercar` owners have this level of dealer staff knowledge.
The other dealer that I went to answered, (more local to me) when questioned about service scheduels, with a pulled face and a shrug of the shoulders `don`t know`. Very professional, NOT! The best answer they came up with was, `I`m sure its 12 months or 12k miles`.
This garage used to be a Ferrari agent and their not very happy with the change!
See what happens tomorrow.....
I suppose if the oil life monitor thinks it needs changing it probably does - perhaps it's seen some fairly hard use?
The standard oil change interval is in the service book
When I needed the body repairs on mine, I electronically logged the request on the Stratstone site and was phoned the following morning by Stephen at Park Lane, then the following afternoon by Libby at Reading - which I thought was pretty good.
However, I'm not sure the outer reaches of the dealer network know that much about the standard C6 (I've got a soft top) - let alone the Z06.
For example - what do I do with the headlights when driving abroad - dealer had no idea
My oil life monitor used about 10% of life after 800 odd miles - and they were pretty easy miles.

The oil life indicator can vary the change times greatly depending on useage.
I've seen cars come in as soon as 3,000 miles/5 months, or last as long as 9,000 miles/12 months.
The official time and mileage limit for a full service is 12 months / 15,000 kilometres.
The oil service message dictates just an oil and filter change, not a full service.
The C6 Z06 is slightly unusual because of the dry sump. If I recall it has 2 sump bolts and there is a certain technique required to drain it fully (but don't quote me, as I'm not a technician!)
