C6 - Z06 : The first dark days!
Discussion
Just over a weeek in and 200 miles with my new vette.
I will keep this one short and post more interesting report soon with photo's. In a nutshell:
- Fast (even upto the break-in level of 4500-5000 revs)
- Big (trying to get used too the width in comparison to previous 997 C2S)
- Comfortable
- Loud (that fuse thing!)
- Creates great interest, everyone wants to know more about it.
- Frugal, well sort of it, currently achieving 20-21mpg.
- Techno fest, still getting to know what all those options do.
- Handling : On the down side the feed back from the wheel is poor and I'm finding it difficult to feel the corner loadings on the tyres in comparison to the Porsche, BUT and a big BUT, this car can be so easily driven by the throttle. The torque and power give you so many options and you can tell this car wants to give you fun. The first track day, coming soon, will reveal all and at last I will use all the power available.
Anyway haven't got time for more, it's sunny and I'm off for a drive, need to get to 500 miles before I'm happy to truly play. Have fun and play safe in your vette's.

Yup, that's pretty much the way the modern Vettes work. All you need to do now is find some 997s to leave for dead anywhere, any gear, any time and you'll never look back. There's precious little at any price which can stay with these USA-fangled Corvette contraptions whatever shape the road!
That is the right color combination! Mine is running great, thank you for asking. I just arrived back from a London - Loire Valley - Cannes - Route Napoleon - Geneva - London trip. It's hard to have a better tool for the job than the Z06. The only trouble is that with only 3,000 miles on the odometer the rear tires have reached the end of their life-span.
