Moving Parts Corvette Challenge 2nd& 3rd June2007

Event details

A two day Drag Racing Weekend where you can see just how quick you really are. This is for road legal cars with practice on Saturday and racing on Sunday. There will be a knock out elimination to see just who has the quickest car.

When - 2nd & 3rd June 2007 Yanks American Weekend

Where - Shakespeare County Raceway - Long Marston, Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, CV37 8LL

Saturday 2nd June - Drivers Briefing in the morning – to be confirmed

This is a “Run What You Brung” day at Shakespeare and is open to all comers. Normally this is well supported but you will be able to get plenty of runs.

Sunday 3rd June - Subject to the amount of participants there will be 4 runs. People can run outside of these slots but they will not count towards the result.

How Much? – Pay on the gate

Attending Admission: Sat £10.00 – Sun £15.00 (Advance £12.00). Weekend £20.00 (Advance £15.00). This includes free camping, free parking, free grandstands, free showers, free entry to racers pit, licensed club house, hot & cold food, traders stalls, under 16's go free (accompanied by an adult) and wheelchair access. £5.00 discount per car for members showing current CCCUK Club membership card at the gate (does not apply to Advance tickets)

Taking Part - RWYB Track Fee: £20.00 per day or £35.00 for a weekend pass and unlimited runs.

You will need a crash helmet, arm restraints and gloves are required if you drive a convertible or if your terminal speed is in excess of 100 mph and/or less than 11.00 seconds! Shakespeare County Raceway strongly recommends that you bring a helmet just in case. No helmets will be available for hire so it is the drivers responsibility to ensure that they provide their own. Arm restraints to be worn in open top cars if your car runs quicker than 15 seconds or runs faster than 80 mph.
Your driving licence (both parts) & current MOT if applicable. Vehicle insurance just in case you are asked for it. Wear clothing that covers your arms, legs with suitable footwear.
Shakespeare County Raceway reserves the right to define additional rules governing the running of the event and will advise all entrants accordingly.

Dammit, I'm on holiday.

Never mind...see if you can beat Hong Kong Dicks mildly modded ZR1 (11.72) or my bone stock C6 Z06 (11.80) to take home the prize of fastest normally asp road legal modified or stock Corvette in the UK.

as the name implies...

More for "7" style open top cars Id guess. They are simply restraints that limit arm movement in event of a crash.

Basically stop your arms going flying should the worst happen ( ie rollover scenario )

Ive seen them on drivers, but never looked closely. Not sure if they are some sort of seat belt stle inertia sop, or a fixed item. Probably the latter though attaching to normal seatbelt lap strap ?

Arm restraint info here:

Assuming you have windows it is unlikely they will be required.

Now this I would have loved to do but since I only get back on hte evening of the 1st and I have to fix my new rev counter, currently jammed at 1500 RPM, its not going to be dooable, unfotunately. It would have been a good chance to try out the latest mods! Oh well, as I so often say, maybe next time!

Don't forget the Z06 is a convertible though. It's official!

Hopefully my roof and windows will stay on as I think driving with the Alice Cooper style arm restraints would be a bit tricky !

Very true.....but I will be driving the "other" Z06 which is correctly registered as having a roof.

Tom Hi

The eliminations on Sunday are a Corvette thing but you will be more than welcome on both days. It is an American car weekend and a RWYB so you should be able to run as many times as you like subject to how busy it is!

Steve - will look into the mysterious place that is the Sciencebird and Franv8 calendar and see if we can make it. Will try and persuade Sciencebird to have a drive too - much as I *cough* hate to admit it - she pulled better 0-60 times out of her Megane than I could get... and didn't rub it in at all either...
