Just picked up my C6 Z06 from the shipping company after having it shipped back from Dubai, seems that someone has tried to remove the roof panel thinking it was a normal corvette and now it sounds like I have an open window at anything above 60 mph. I am thinking it was probably customs when they inspected the car. Obviously I am a bit annoyed but it is fully insured for the trip so will be fixed sharpish.

My main question is has this happened to anyone else and is it a big job to get fixed? There are also a couple of little paint chips where the roof has been levered up...it being a saturday when i got it I can't phone anyone to complain yet!

cheers
Tom

I hope your shipping insurance is good. when I shipped mine it covered against "total loss" only (i.e. sinking)... Although luckily apart from a small bend in the bar under the front that holds up the spoiler there was no other damage.

It isn't a sign of the roof panel peeling off is it ? Wasn't there a recall on a batch of C6 roof panels because they detached themselves at speed ?

Shipping insurance covers all eventualities as a just in case. Not sure about a recall, but the panel peeling off sounds like this, there are some marks down the sides as if someone has had a go trying to remove it though.

This and this are worth reading, was your car affected by the recall problem ?

Interesting reading, how would I find out if mine should have been recalled? Is there a chassis number sequence or something? I know mine is an early 06 but had no correspondence from the dealer about it.

If you call me in the morning I can put you in touch with our PDi centre who can check if your car needs a recall and whether it will be covered in the UK.
