Cost of Corvette Tax Disc
Discussion
I think it works like this,
Vettes registered before March 2001 - you stay in the PLG category for engines over 1,500 cc and pay £175 at present. Normal annual increase.
Vettes registered between 1 March 2001 and 23 March 2006 - you stay in Band F and pay £195 at present. Goes up £10 for 2007-2008 and then up by £5 for 2008-2009 and by £5 for 2009-2010.
Vettes registered after 23 March 2006 - you stay in Band G but this is where Gordon Brown gets his hand inside your wallet! The cost had been £215 but rises to £300 now and then rises again to £400 in 2008.
[Petrol goes up 2p a litre from October this year]

I am lov'in this........... (99 Half Vett Type thing)!
Why? Do you really think you will be able to avoid punitive taxation for long?
I reckon we have 5-10 years tops before we are all going to be under GPS speed limiters whether you want it or not.
Me I am just going for pre 70 (no Tax V8's from now on)....
Actually that is a good point. Will they be physically able to speed limit a car that runs on carbs?
I would have thought the standard box they will make us fit will be for electronic fuel injection only; they would have to dream up a mechanical distributor or fuel pump device for the really old cars.
Anyway, doesn't matter, the GPS snitch will still be there and you will be the only category of motorist left who is still capable of being fined!
I don't mean to sound negative, but just because we've enjoyed cars for the last century that doesn't mean we always will be allowed to.
I bet there were millions of people in denial about the demise of the horse and cart a 110 years ago...

I think I got mine registered in March 2006, phew!
Not as if it'd stop me driving what I want even if they put it up to 5 grand a year, I'd just find a way of getting 5 grand back out of them elsewhere, don't they see how stupid their ideas are?
My overall carbon footprint is in the lowest band, since I don't have kids, I travel by tube to work and my annual mileage is much less then average. But of course this logic doesn't register in the mind of the quarterwits currently in government. They much prefer arbitrary numbers and finding ways to get themselves out at the next election.
