Yep. Give Keef a call. He will get you the correct Dexcool coolant, which I mix with distilled water in a 50:50 ratio. Keef will get you the Mobil 1 10w30 from the US which is a better oil in the LS-1 than the thinner stuff we get here IMO

Ive used Motul 300V 15/50, Mobil 1 Motorsport 15/50 and currently using Motul 300V 5/40 in my LS1's

Never had a problem with any of them. All excellent oils.

I use Bluecol antifreeze when I can get it.

Careful if you're changing anti-freeze! I try to use the modern pinky stuff, but I made the mistake of emptying (note not flushing) the cooling system in my Mazda before sticking the new antifreeze in - it mixed with some of the remaining old blue glycol based antifreeze and made a lovely jelly blancmange in my cooling system.

Cue colourful language and lots of flushing... think the correct order would be - empty - flush - refill, not empty - refill - flush - flush - flush - refill...

Thanks everyone for the information

So sum it up most people have stuck with dex cool (which I believe has a 5 year life) so my eldest camaro is 2 years overdue.

Guess I take heed the warning re mixing the coolent up don’t want to serve desert inside the engine, stevie you must have a reason to use bluecol what’s your take on it ?

As far as I can see the only reason so far is that dexcool lasts 5 years.

BTW anyone knows off hand how much you need for Corvette and camaro ls1 systems, I am going to buy 4 cars worth so need to shop around a bit.

Next oil looks like most use mobil 1, the manual seems to suggest 5w30 for our temperature range.

V8d I was interested to know why your going for the 10w30, you think this may be better for out engines? if so why ?

Stevie again I see you use motul and different range again have you a reason to vary to the 15w40 or 50, how is the price compared to mobil 1

Thanks for all feedback

With our lack of shiny bits whirring round in the cylinder heads I doubt the grade matters much provided the can says "synthetic" on the side. I try to stick with the recommendations where possible but when push comes to shove am equally happy with 0w-40 or 5w-30 in the Vette.

They (Chevy Powertrain) specify the thin stuff to improve fuel mileage by a whisker to satisfy the federal eco type stuff. If you read the small print in the instructions it says the thicker stuff may also be used if the temperature is likely to be above minus 18degF !
You will find that youe engine uses noticeably less oil and will run quieter as well.

I had been using the 15/50 Motul as a carry over from what I had bought for my old RV8 engine.

I then bought some 5/40, as I didnt feel it was necessary to run a 15/50 on my car.

I also use the Mobil, simply because its available locally. I have to buy the Motul from England.

I know it probably works, but I dont like any of these 0 weight oils, even if it is Mobil.
