Damn I missed it, I hope they repeat it. One thing everyone is missing is that the sun has become hotter and brighter over the last 100 years. Sunspot activity has also been increasing over the last 100 years. I check sunspot activity as I am a radio ham and use this effect for long distance radio communication. I just checked the sunspot data, apparently the present average of 75 is the highest in the last 8,000 years based on beryllium-10 analaysis. mmm now that's interesting nerd

The views of David Bellamy, the conservationist. "Global warming - at least the modern nightmare version - is a myth," he said. "I am sure of it and so are a growing number of scientists. But what is really worrying is that the world's politicians and policy-makers are not. "Instead, they have an unshakeable faith in what has, unfortunately, become one of the central credos of the environmental movement: humans burn fossil fuels, which release increased levels of carbon dioxide - the principal so-called greenhouse gas - into the atmosphere, causing the atmosphere to heat up. They say this is global warming: I say this is poppycock."

When are the people going to wake up and smell the coffee, the last time the ice melted was part of evolution no v8 gas guzzlers where around then. No doubt Labour will spin this to their advantage and claim if we vote them in for the next 100 years they will solve GW, I say Fcensored.

It is repeated on More4 on Saturday 17th and apparently it is available for download on the 4 on demand site. There is also a very long thread about it on The Pie & Piston Forum.

Thats all covered in this program. A direct link between sun activity and climate change all through the Earth's history. CO2 lags behind climate change by around 800 years mostly due to the time it takes for the oceans to react to climate change. all a myth started by Thatcher to push for nuclear power as she didnt trust the miners. Then the anti-car brigade, anti this and that brigade all jumped on the band wagon. Interesting what the Greenpeace guy was saying on how the developing countries such as Africa are being directed away from conventional power by the 'greens'

Global warming - a soapbox for eco terrorists, and a licence to tax for governments.
I saw the program, need more like that.

dont get dragged into thinking this is gospal. it was very very well editted im sure.

Agreed, its total rot. The Earth has been cycling through ice ages for millennia.
What I do agree with however is environmental concern, reduction of polutants, energy independance etc.
Sod the warming, nothing is going to stop that! When the Dinosaurs were about global temps were an average of 15*C hotter, so we have a way to go to even match that.

I think the equation is simple - those that have (some) money, i.e. car owners, can be taxed, and so we will be.

Sciencebird told me also that the meat industry (i.e. the breeding of cows, pigs etc. for consumption) were greater CO2/Methane producers than cars according to a recent Panorama.

So, I guess we have to realise that facts and truths have little bearing on where we'll have cash extracted from us next. There was a windows tax a few hundreds of years ago you know!

I think cement production accounts for the largest. Maybe even 40% IIRC?

Yeah, Ive heard that too. Apparently cow farts have a role to play also. They eat and ferment grass all day long and it seems the huge quantities of methane have some effect. Sadly, cows dont pay tax so no-ones interested in that theory!

Actually in NZ I think they are looking into genetically modified sheep for that reason and may even have an emissions levy already!

It all f*ckin bonkers, IMO. How long before farmers will get a tax rebate for having catalytic converters and Lambda sensors fitted to their cattle? Poor old Daisy the cow will have a MIL lamp and a 16 pin plug behind her ear, so we can all get a timely warning if she farts more than 17 times a day ! It'd be funny if it wasnt so scary.

Ah yes, but did you realise that scientists have shown the moon is moving away at a tiny although measurable distance from the Earth every year. If you do the maths, you can calculate that 65 million years ago the moon was orbiting the earth at a distance of about 35 feet from the Earth’s surface. This would explain the death of the dinosaurs – the tall ones anyway

Watching US telly tonight and they are talking about the amount of dung produced for the amount of meat you eat per week!
