Hmm, so you wouldn't be covered if you did the work yourself even using GM parts?
Correct - you have to go to a VAT registered garage. I have this in writing from Corvette Europe when I was protecting the warranty on my C5.
If anyone is doing this with a warranted car then I would suggest that you get the invoice to specify exactly what oil and filter part number were used which would avoid any issues later if you made a warranty claim.

I was calling Stratstone today and I was told that they will arrange their parts department to send me and oil filter and they have no problem with me changing the oil.
I assume that they have agreed this with you as a gesture of goodwil as you bought the car from them - in which case full marks to them. Are they saying that all C6 owners with warranty can do the same??
Sorry for the delayed reply; I've been away in the Lake District enjoying the scenerey and the roads I have not spoken to our service department but I expect that because it is not a scheduled service the warranty will not be affected.
I believe that Vette Guru is correct about the Vat registered part for warranty etc. but I will check this out with the head of Corvette Aftersales (UK), who is employed by GM.
