Well - my new yellow convertible has finally made it to Derby and i should pick it up tomorrow.
Only one slight technical hitch - the DVLA won't give Stratstone the tax disc as my insurance (obviously) runs from Saturday when I plan to pick the car up.
So the jobsworths at the DVLA have posted it so that it arrives tomorrow - rather than give it to my dealer.
So if the postman loses it or the post is delayed for some reason - I will not be able to take the car away!!!!

I've never heard of anything so ridiculous before - so, finger's crossed for the royal mail tomorrow morning please!

Perfectly normal, I had to insure my car for 3 days before I got it so that the garage could get the tax disc in time for me to drive it away on a Saturday. Enjoy the car !

Welcome to Vette Ownership Rob, I'm sure you'll love it.

I am close by in Loughborough and use my C5 daily for my commute to work, I'm sure that you will be very happy with your choice.

Nice one Rob.

Remember to post some pics

I wouldn't worry about the tax disc. Legally it's taxed, and they can easily check that.
Just tell them it's in the post. ... That's if you get questioned.

Yes - home without a hitch - other than people trying to get photos of the car on the motorway and almost crashing into other traffic.

I drove it over to Stoke to see my brother on Saturday and then down to Kent on Sunday.
(I live in Kent but got the car from Derby - long story involving Donington Park, Le Mans Series race and a test drive!)

Adapted quite quickly to LHD and having slightly more torque than I'm used to. I've even driven it to work today rather than trying to get it in the garage last night.

Biggest issue is trying to work out the temperature in fahrenheit on the air-con!

Afraid it was only in Derby for a bit - Stratstone there have sold a Monterrey Red/Cashmere C6 convertible and just taken an order for a Yellow Z06.

What did you have before that only had "slightly less torque" than a Vette?

There should be an option on your DIC to select "metric units" so you can get a feel for how temps compare in F and C. Otherwise, I'm sure you know the formula: F = (C x 1.8) + 32

Another challenge completed last night - got the car into the garage.

The hard part was the gymnastic effort required to get out of the car - without pushing the door through the garage wall...
Which I then had to repeat as I'd left my phone in the car.

I think I need to get one of those window valet things to give myself some more room - either that or some serious dieting!!

Or a wider garage!

What are you going to be driving in the LMES? Hoping to get to at least a couple of the roads this year and will be at the FIA GT at Silverstone watching the vettes.

Sorry - should have made that clearer - I was a spectator - not a driver!

I think I saw your C5-R at Donington, parked on the hill overlooking the Old Hairpin.

I'll be going to FIA GT and LMS at Silverstone, LMS (and possibly the 24H)at Spa, Le Mans and maybe Road Atlanta.

Yep my car was at Donny for the FIA GT race last year.
I'm going to FIA GT at Silverstone this year and the LMES race and I'm off to Sebring in about 3 weeks time and will stay out there for the St. Pete's ALMS race a couple of weeks later. Going to Le Mans again as usual.
Are you going to Road Atlanta for Petit Le Mans?
