Does anyone have an opinion relating to magnetic selective ride offered as an alternative to Z51 performance pkg.
It would seem to be a higher cost option, and is standard on the latest Audi R8 supercar.

Y50 Vet has it on his car.
Cadillac XLR has it as standard and it is an option on the C6 I would prefer the Z51 which you get on the UK cars rather then another £1500 option it seems a lot to pay out.
GM was the first with it 4 years ago now Clarkson was saying waht a great Idea on Top Gear last night when driving the new TT!!
Vettes always get the latest gadgets.

I think this is a fantastic option
It came as standard on my car and it seems to reduce the road noise and stiffen up the suspension for sports driving or at high speed, definitely makes it more stable over a ton and works well on the track, everyone else complains about the run flat tyres but I cant complain as the ride seems to work well with the suspension. If your local and want to know more drop me a line

It rather depends on the driving you do. The C5 Z06 ride was perfectly compliant so why pay money to make the ride softer and the handling worse if you're going to be selecting sport anyway (as I would)? Personally, I think gadgets are just something else to go wrong unless they provide an indispensable benefit (and I'll bet the replacement shocks are a lot more). I seem to recall the US road tests arrived at the conclusion that the Z51 was the best set-up for exactly those reasons.

Hey there
there are two versions.
F45 which is the older of the two.
F55 which is thew newer.
F45 is good.
F55 is so much better.
Select Tour or Sport.
You can really feel the differnce. When in sport, you can feel the whole car is more solid, and as if there are no springs, just sitting on the tyres.
F55 is the advancement, and even though sport is sport, the reall advance is in just how soft they can make tour mode.
For the car that the 'vette is, it is quite remarcable that they are (GM) able to develop a smooth and comfortable ride, esp. when you are on the long trips, and not looking for the race.

I believe Delphi (the supplier) provides the same/similar technology to the Ferrari 599 ?

The older F45 is a 3-position system,

Tour - which I never use.
Sport - which is fine for everyday driving (especially on conventional tyres instead of runflats)
Performance - which is pretty darned firm but enhances body control nicely when you're pressin on.

I guess with magnetic ride they deleted Mr Softee in favour of a 2-position switch.
