Hi chaps

I'm in two minds about this

On performance and handling the C6 has it - however i think i prefer the harder looks of the C5 ?

I prefer the c5's looks but the 6 is the better performer.

I'd have the C6 as I actually prefer the looks minus the headlights. Also is the C6 that little bit less wide? Bit better being thinner on our roads IMO.

The £30k or so you saved not getting the C6 would probably allow you to do anything to it, to improve its performance. The extra 100 BHP for forwards grunt would be easy. Although I am sure the drag would be greater on the C5. Not sure how easy it is to improve the handling though. But I would have thought brakes would be relatively simple as well. But lets face it the C5 Z06 is no slouch!

I guess adding a supercharger or NOZ would be fairly simply

Handling would be a bit of a mare - however i did it with the 930 - had penske make we a custom set of shocks - it was a big improvement - but still nowhere close to a modern 911

I think the C5 brakes are really good - haven't driven a C6 so can't compare so it would have to be a big improvement. And to be honest I think switching to Toyo Proxies has improved everything for realivity little money

btw - took the 930 out for it's monthly winter run today (dry roads) and it's still an awesome bit of kit - it's as fast as the Z06 - requires alot more driver input and it's alot scarier - the cars are totally different but equally rewarding. Nice to have both of them

C5 Z06 for me (twice paperbag).....

I have one that will out perform a C6 Z06 and the other one is the daily driver which cost me less than £25k on the road!

I have always though the C6 is an ugly car and I keep looking at the photos of my old C5 Z06 and still thinking that bonnet is unfeasibly low and it is, in my eyes, a completely classic shape. That's not to say that after driving a C6Z06, I might be so intoxicated by the performance that the looks issue would evaporate but purely objectively, no way.

I hope I'm not in the minority, but I prefer the C6 Z06 shape to the C5 Z06 [although - and no bias of course - I do prefer the C4 Corvette's shape].

For me, the C6 Z06 looks absolutely mean, in my eyes a car that looks very fast even when it's stationary.

I feel the C5 is just so much more stylish.
I can't gel with the C6 yet.
perhaps in a couple of years I will grow to like it.
But fore now, the C5 wins hands down

Haven't driven a C6 but have driven a C5 Z06 and was hugely impressed. But I personally think the C6 is very cosmetically challenged. When I saw the pics I didn't like it, then when I saw one for real I disliked the looks even more. It's purely personal preference, but I wouldn't want a car that I hate the looks of. The C5 is a beauty though, and a real bargain now too. A C6 has a long way to fall on depreciation as well. No doubt an awesome drivers car though, the C5 I drove was impressive enough. Depends exactly what you want most out of your car really.

Exactly,

The C5 has far more stylish appeal than the C6 will ever have.
I feel the C6 took a backward step in the style stakes. TBH.

wow this thread came back from the dead !

I'm 100% behind the C5 - the styling is more aggressive, and let's face - pop up lights are way cooler

Ok I'll agree that pop up lights are cooler but aggressive? More like an intimidating teletubby!

But then I might be biased

i meant the lines of the car are more aggressive - hard lines - rather than lots of curves

I see what you mean, to me though the shorter overhangs on the C6 make it look better, each to his own I suppose!

I prefer the looks of the C6 to the C5, it looks tighter, lighter and more aggressive. But then I prefer the looks of the C4 ZR1 to the C6 Z06.
