Seen this in the classifieds -

www.pistonheads.com/sales/122535.htm

It seems like very good value compared to others does it not ?? Not many miles, good colour, 98 cars seem to be around that value......just wondered what you experienced vette people thought ?? I'm being more and more attracted to the world of Corvettes....

Any problems with this model/year ??

Remember its a US spec car so it should be less than the euro cars you can get euro cars for not much more all the lights are correct the radio works over here, Its your choice what you buy just remember when selling it on.
try Chris Graham cars he has some very nice C5 and will always do a deal I think American car imports seem to have a few US spec cars in stock.

Fair price - may get it for less. Reputable dealer. Will be SVA'd. May not have too much history if its a recent import. Some may say the mileage is high but it has probably not been a weekend car all its life - in terms of the mileage these cars are capable of enormous miles - 51k is no problem. Grey with Grey is unusual and ok if you like grey. Check the rear axle driver's side for leaks where the halfshaft joins the diff. A common problem. Otherwise just check for everyhing you would on any other car.

The only thing you must avoid is driving it - as soon as you do, you will buy it!!!!

Has it got HUD? I think HUD was introduced as an option from the 1999 model year so check with the seller. HUD is the Heads Up Display which projects speed, rpm and other dash data onto the windscreen in the driver's line of sight.

You might also ask whether the radio receives correct frequencies for UK. If the car has U-shaped black tow-bars front (right) and rear (centre) it's a Euro car and all should be well. The tow-bars are the safest way to identify a European C5 from a USA car without getting into lots of detail. Other differences are easier to hide by changing lights etc.

The C5 does not carry any spare wheel as it's supplied with runflat tyres. Many of us get rid of them to improve ride and handling. That car is on conventional tyres I think so you need to have plans in the event of a puncture.

You can get the kit supplied with the Z06 (no run flats as standard) which comprises a plug in compressor and a can of gunk to repair the flat.

That looks like a good dealer price to me and the mileage, as said, isn't a worry. You may be able to knock around a grand off that private.

My 2000 C5 Coupe, Auto, European B Pack with 25k miles was £15 750 private back in November.

It was a cluster of options sold as a well priced package and included the HUD. A 1999 onwards Euro car ought to be in "B pack" spec to get you most interested. If you are new to American cars/Vettes then a Euro B-pack C5 is a safe starting point without the need to get into lots of detail. Other cars should probably be fine although a bit more checking out may be sensible before parting with your hard earned cash!

I've got a lovely new Victory Red demonstrator coming to me tomorrow that needs running in... driving

(and the gear change seems to be easier on the '07 cars)

Yeah, but they want it run in, not thrashed to death.................

They also want it returned in the same condition (i.e. without superchargers, turbos and nos added)

They need a retired gentleman who is kind to his cars and will cherish it as if it were his own - i.e. ME, ME, ME

The last thing they want is bits of yellow stuck all over the inside when they get it back....and I'm sure they don't want any flags stuck on the front either
