Godzilla asked me about this a while back, but I did not have a definitive answer.

Factory fitted C6 Nav will currently pick up TMC while you are in mainland Europe, because the signal is transmitted for free. In the UK a license needs to be paid for by either the vehicle manufacturer or navigation manufacturer.

GM currently do not do this, but because of the software on the C6, if you tune in to classic FM, TMC will work. Try it and you will see the red line removed from the TMC sign.

Hope this helps

Thanks James, I thought it would be something to do with subscription!

So we can get TMC, but we have to listen to Classic FM all the time?

Yes...
However, I think that you can tune into classic and then listen to a CD and the TMC still works (I'll check this out tonight for you)

When I used TMC before it works bit you have to listen to Classic FM but you can have a CD on and it will work.

Traffic Message Channel. Trafficmaster’s TMC service provides real-time traffic information to in-car satellite navigation systems via the RDS data on FM radio channels. They claim "The traffic information provided by Trafficmaster can be used by the satellite navigation system to select alternative routes and avoid traffic jams on the UK’s roads." Wouldn't bet on it on a Friday night motorway though.
