Does anyone know where I may be able to purchase a set of rear euro fog/reflectors for the C5?

I have tried Claremont and they are asking for £295!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These things are awful, cheap plastic housings but I must replace mine as they are knackered and I have to fill those huge holes in th rear bumper.

Thanks in advance

As an alternative, you could either fill the holes yourself or get a half decent bodyshop to do it. A student who used to work for me has done a great job on his Mk III Golf to remove the indicators from the bumper, it looks like a great job and he only started doing this sort of thing a few months ago.

Just a suggestion - sorry if it's not helping...

They are not cheap! They are the same foglamps as a euro spec Camaro you may find them on E bay. When I had mione changed under warranty they still broke & let water in the gaps!
Try Bauer millett they stock them.

Thanks guys

I may well just try and patch up the holes, I think the euro fogs really spoil the look of the rear, esp on a black car.

I have a US rear licence holder and plan to convert the lights at each side of this to take LED Fog lamp bulbs.

We'll see if I ever get that far

You could remove them and just glue in a piece of black or stainless steel mesh behind the holes and then hang a fog light between the exhausts..

Keep us up to date with how you go on this Wayne. The thought of removing mine often comes up but I never get around to it. I recall some time back hearing about a German guy who had put strip lights(LEDs?) in the air vents at the bottom of the butt. Souided cool but no idea about UK laws on height above ground etc.

I must admit I'm not familiar with current legislation but if an import can pass an SVA with a single unit between the exhaust then I'm sure that the US Number plate holder containing Fog Light Bulbs should suffice?

I'll let you know once I have made my mind up.

I have done this with my Yr 2000 Vert. It went through the MoT no problem. I bought them from a local accesory shop. I had seen them in Halfords before, but they stopped stocking them. I will admit that they do not seem to be as bright as a 'normal' fog lamp, but they must pass the relevant law for mine to pass. Hope this helps (They do look a lot cooler and more integrated by being in the vents)

Did you place one per side or one per vent (cannot remember how many off hand, 3 per side I think)

Fog lights have to be a maximum height and the number plate aperture is too high. For the SVA they wouldn't let you put a fog light behind the vents as it offends obstruction and visibility angles. I would think a strict MOT place might fail LED strips so worth checking it first. Just because one will let it go doesn't mean they all will.

Well if this is the case I am very confused as the Euro Fogs are above the number plate aperture??

Have I understood you wrong, could you clarify?

If I recall correctly, I think the regs are deemed complied with if the fog light forms part of the main light unit, but I don't have the relevant book here and won't have access to it until next week.

The regs are:

E marked red light. Single or dual lights. Centreline or on offside if single. 100mm from stop lamp.

Min height 250mm, max height 1000mm

Angles of visibility 25 degrees inwards and outwards, 5 degrees above and below horizontal.

Two lamps are deemed to be a single lamp if the total area of the two lamps is more than 60% of the area of the smallest rectangle drawn around the two lamps. Simple huh?

Bought 2 and placed one per side. The top slot is above the minimum height for the light to be situated so it stays 'legal'. There is enough of a lip to the slot for you to opt for flush or recessed mounting. IMHO they look the dogs dangly bits compared to the Euro or SVA options.

If you draw a verticle line through the rear number plates my 2001 UK Vette fogs are below that line

The strips I was referring to are not behind the vents, they are in the vents so // with the rear bodywork, looking at 90 deg from the side

Looks like there's 3 different sets of rules involved depending on circumstances,

1. Official Euro cars Type Approval regulations as above. Hence lamps cut into rear valance to meet the 100mm from stop lamp requirement. E mark needed too.(Switch must illuminate or have a tell-tale to show they're on)
2. SVA testing of personal imports. Fog lamp position less critical so long as it's in centre or towards offside of car. (Probably E mark required and probably switch must illuminate or have a tell-tale to show when fog lamp is on)
3. MoT test. A relatively informal check to make sure there is an unobstructed fog lamp and that it works. (No check of switch illumination)

So for a registered car, strips in the slits will probably work then I guess. They are no lower than a light in the exhaust well that I have seen before

Thats an option I've been looking at so I'm glad someone has tried it. I've found an outlet for the lights which seem to be the right size.

I'll get mine through SVA with the light between the exhaust first and then look at the other option.
