That threads been running over on Gen Gassing - there are calls for the council to have them removed because they are dangerous. I say have the drivers removed as they are not only dangerous but have redefined stupid

Yep, can't help but agree with Brental. I suspect the same idiots that try and jump these are the same idiots who see other traffic as something that gets in the way, so tailgate, cut up and generally behave in an ignorant manner.

I thought it was interesting the 4X4 with the couple and the child in it, you'd think they'd behave in a safer manner with the littl'un on board, it's funny how if you challenge people like that for their driving the first thing they come back with is 'you're scaring my kid...'

I thought councils were supposed to remove them because they are dangerous, there was one near A3 New Malden, until it jacked a bus up .

Still they do stop vehicles in their tracks

Hmm, I think with careful engineering consideration the danger would remain purely the idiots that try and follow vehicles through. Remember the old car park exit ramps in the floor, same principles and it was only thsoe that wanted to take the risk or not pay attention that caused problems. It is signed as no entry, and at worst a small green/red light might help.

Thinking of a not too disimilar situation - what about unbarriered level crossings, with disregard of one's (and everyone elses for that matter) safety, jumping these would have similar consequences.

I think this is the problem these days with a lot of things, there are people (and I guess we're all guilty of it to some extent) who struggle to make the connection between actions, responsibility and consequences.

It'll be fine soon enough when the state begins issuing free cotton wool in 50kg sacks.
