Well I was saving for a C5 but my lack of patience and the spotting of Fletch360's has persuaded me to get a loan for the rest of the amount. I guess they may be a little cheaper heading into winter than Feb when I planned on getting one.

I will have in the next few days or a week or two a 15k budget. Not a lot I know but for a poor van driver it is the most I have, and ever will, pay for a car! I sold my TVR in the summer and have now have a company van as my only method of transport. I need another toy to make me smile again

So if you guys spot one in my price range please post in this thread so I can have a look. It must be a '99 or later as a HUD is essential for me. I would prefer the darker colours as well, ideally navy blue but black a close second. May consider other colours though. Only seen both blues and black in thew flesh. Mileage I am told is not a major concern but under 50 would be good. Obviously the lower the better. Manual/auto no real concern there seems to be arguments for both.

Exciting times ahead for me

I have a favourites folder full of dealers and check Ebay/Autotrader and the classifieds here. But my budget is probably asking for privates or nothing.

Appreciate any help locating them!

Ian

Thanks mate. I don't think I spotted that.

Does everyone agree a mileage as high shouldn't put me off?

I am willing to travel nationwide. Unfortunately not over the pond though!

One advantage of that car is it's a Network Q car so should have been thoroughly checked.

Do all 99's have HUD's?

I think it is an option for that year isn't it? and standard later on?

With '99s you will get the HUD on any "B pack" car; which most or all will be.

Cheers for that. A more or less definite but an ask before travelling the entire country.

Thanks everyone, keep them coming if you see them

This was also on autotrader, have you seen it? Its not too far from you.
Convertible C5
I think it has been on the market some time so worth squeezing the price down to £15K. And with no part-ex you can only ask.

Yeah I had spotted that one. It's just trade don't usually budge that far on the price. But like you say I suppose it is worth a look and a go when I have the dosh.

It is looking like it is possible for me to find ones 60k miles or so in my price range.

Cheers

My 2001 has 78K and I'd buy it!

Note that HUD only came standard from 2002 MY onwards. It came with the B pack which included sports seats, so if it aint got Sports seats it aint got HUD.
BUT that is for European models (ie the B pack). USA models were sold with A,B + C packs and I do not know where the HUD slotted into those options.

Ta,

I thought I had read that it was only standard later on, more than likely though I guess. Thanks, the mileage shall not put me off then. Condition condition condition I guess.

I think I have decided on a Targa Coupe rather than Convertible. Bit more practical in sunny England!

I have enquired about the one miles south from me. The 99 in blue. I don't think 99 had the Nassaus Blue colour so it is hopefully the darker Navy blue. The car isn't there yet as the owner is trading it in for a VXR. I need to know if it has HUD as well.

It is looking like the funds may take a month or so to come through anyway. Not sure what a Vauxhall garage would be like about leaving a deposit and paying in a months time or so. This one may slip by.

It would take me over 3 hours to get down there too and only weekends are possible.

One thing to watch for is stock that sat at the docks, so a 2000 car,
could be as old as a 98 spec.., I found a few like this when buying.

Yeah I did wonder that. I guess knowing that it has a HUD, which it must for me to buy, will ensure '99 or later.

However in the timeframe for the money I could be looking at a whole different choice.

I tried to contact these people weeks ago about this car but they don't reply to emails and they don't answer their phones or reply to voice mail, what do you think there aftersales service would be like ?

I came to the same conclusion.
And the one convertable I had a look at, the roof was looking a bit "naff".

If I see/hear of anything, I'll let you know. thumbup
