Unofficial RECALL!!! C6 Z06 brakes

I recommend on serviceing you have your front brake discs rotated left to right each service, as GM only manufacture left hand brake discs and fit them on both sides of your vehicle. Unbelievable, only vented one side properly, this will cause a stir in time, watch this space!!

Sounds crazy to me. So does this mean after 5,000 miles I'll be going round in circles every time I hit the brakes ?

Not quite, but if you drive hard ,as the car is desingned to ! ,the left disc becomes over heated & distored,causing brake peddle to pump on brakeing ! Also over heating six of the twenty brake pads on the vehicle ! YES twenty

Do you mean "only manufacture RIGHT hand side discs" because it was my left hand side pads that were almost worn to the metal whereas the right hand side ones still had half the material on them?

It is a shocking case of beancounters overriding the engineers and totally at odds with the Z06's racing ancestry.

The right hand side still had material because that side is not braking as efficiently probably caused by heat being that the discs are not handed. All 4 discs are made the same so on the right of the vehicle the cooling vanes in the discs face the wrong way.
