After 75k miles never changed my manual box gear oil - GM manual suggets it lasts for ever. But a Corvette Forum thread suggests guys in the States change their oil and Royal Purple Syncrimax seems popular and a quick web scan shows it is available in the UK. Has anyone changed their gear oil - and if so why?

I followed the hype of earlier favourites and changed mine for Redline D4ATF, supposedly has lower friction than the others. The Redline stuff is fully synthetic so should last forever, whereas I think Royal Purple is semi-synthetic (but that may just be the engine oils) and needs to be changed more often. Probably wasn't necessary but it made me feel a happier as it helped me 'bond' with the car as I got to know it a little better !

Redline is clearly popular too; I just thought the name Royal Purple was cute. The sellers over here seem to all be race car based.

HI ALL
AS A FELLOW CORVETTE OWNER I WOULD RECOMEND THE ROYAL PURPLE OIL
I RUN RP21 IN THE MOTOR,SYNCOMAX IN THE SIX SPEED AND 75/140 IN THE DIFF
IT IS IMPORTED THROUGH MILLENIUM MOTORSPORT AND AS THEY WOULD SAY IT IS THE BEST KEPT SECRET IN MOTORSPORT
I HAVENT JUST USED IT IN THE VETT I HAVE USED IT FOR MANY YEARS AND THINK ITS THE BOLLOCKS(BIG PURPLE ONES THAT IS)
