Oh joy, I'm putting my ZED up for sale. The VXR will be great for doing my Tesco shopping and I can have the same pose value as my mum yipeeee. 2 more seats, I can't believe it, I can see now what a horrendous mistake I made not checking in the back for the missing 2 seats. Those nasty salesmen they get you every time

Yes Erik, I was thinking along similar lines myself!
The limited-edition VXR500 is based on the standard 6.0-litre Monaro VXR, but uses forced induction to take the power from 403 to 500PS and torque up from 530Nm to a massive 677Nm. In addition to the positive displacement supercharger, the conversion also includes an upgraded fuel system, clutch revisions and bespoke engine tune.
It’s expected that the VXR500 will have a sub five second 0-60 time and a top speed in excess of 180mph, and yet it is surprisingly relaxing to drive, as most of the torque is available low down in the engine’s rev range.

Seems quite a few of the Monaro boys are going for a retro fit.....

It's still got to be a 1900kg car with the supercharger strapped on but then I suppose so is the Shelby GT500 and they're asking $20k premiums for those!! The Z06 weighs a good deal less so is going to blow it away.
The VXR500 is actually advertised here on PH for £36k which is a good deal

although I suspect it will depreciate savagely and there are plenty of 400bhp Monaros about for those prepared to "slum it".
Of course, it's all about headline power claims but it's still slightly down on the power to weight ratio compared to Vortech supercharging a Mustang (which would cost you about £32k for a brand new Premium GT at £27k, a lot less if you shop round). 462hp and only 1550kg to punt round but the suspension upgrades etc you'd probably want would bump that up a bit. Mind you, a Saleen Mustang (around £32k)could be supercharged for about the same as the VXR500 and that already has the suspension upgrades. Isn't it great to have so much choice.
Must admit though, the Monaros are growing on me but it's still an on/off sometimes I do, sometimes I don't appreciation.

Yep, the standard car is a little bland for my taste, but a VXR is another matter. With a Wortec exhaust and remap, 440 bhp is achievable on the VXR. Oh, and a sound to die for.
It IS a heavy car, but then it has four decent seats. Lost half it's boot space for the '05 model though, due to a repositioned fuel tank.
To be honest, I prefer normally aspirated engines (says the bloke with two turbos on his car!). I'd rather have the Z06 7 litre engine in a Monaro than a supercharged 6 litre to get my 500 ponies.
But, it's great value, and will depreciate massively, so will be a great 2nd hand buy.
