Anyone on here attending this one ????
Eric
The cruise will start at 0900 from South Mimms services on the M25 (junction 23) - that's the (slightly) bad news, since the Ace Cafe will have about a thousand bikes in situ until about 10.45 (until they all bugger off down to Brighton), which is too late for us since the run takes about three hours. Anyway, we'll be able to cruise down the A1 more or less in formation until we get into the serious traffic lights. Which will be nice.
We'll cruise from South Mimms to Battersea Park (instead of Hyde Park), which has excellent parking at that time of day (or it did yesterday), so we can stop and stretch legs. After that we'll recross the river and bimble through the city, heading for the East End. Our next stopping point will be the Thames Barrier Park, which, while it's only about 10 minutes from the end point in Barking is actually quite cool (and also has a toilet). After that we're off to Frankie and Bennys' in Barking (I just rang them to book and the guy nearly fainted with ectasy when I booked for twenty people).
The route takes in the following landmarks:
The Albert Hall
The King's Road
Battersea Power Station (there's a great park with good car parking next door, plus I like Pink Floyd)
Buckingham Palace (if Birdcage Walk isn't blocked again, grrr)
Westminster/Houses of Parliament
The London Eye
St Paul's
Tower Bridge (can't wait to see the American tourists' faces!)
Limehouse Link (a very long TUNNEL)
Canary Wharf
The Millenium Dome (hidden behind a huge pile of scrap)
London City Airport
The Thames Barrier
