One or two people on PH have commented on how Corvettes and shooting seem to go together, and I've been surprised by the number of Vette people I've run into down at Bisley, how many PHers seem to have noticed my and a friend's Vette down there, and how many owners seem to live in and around Lightwater!

So... how about a day down at Bisley, where we spend half the day shooting, have some lunch and go for a play on the local roads, which Godzilla now knows are great test tracks? We could also pop over to Racing Green to see the Vette engined Mosler. Oh yeah, and we can all ogle each other's cars!

I haven't priced it up yet but suspect that, as well as the driving and lunch, we could probably do two varieties of clay shooting on the Commonwealth Games facility, some target rifle at 1000 yards distance (!) and possibly some black powder pistol (you'll love that!), all for perhaps £150ish.

Are you interested? Let me know and I'll try and fix it up. And, if you are, would a Friday work or would you need to do it on a weekend?

For those who don't know, Bisley is not far from Woking and Guildford in Surrey.

Count me in, that would = a great day ! I've never shot rifle at 1000yds, would absolutely love to give it a go. May even take it up again. I've just used my FN-FAL and Rem 700 on the short siberia at 100yds. I can bunk off on a friday if need be, and I have my own s/g for the clay bit. Nosebag afterwards would finish the day off a treat.

You know, 'Ol Painless from Predator or the one that Arnie uses to inflict "zero casualties" in T2. Your basic "hand-held" Gatling gun as mounted to attack helicopters in reality!

I WAS only joking!

Miniguns are cool, its what clarkson used to wipe out a C4 Vette in the desert in his video. Is "Practical Minigun" on the NRA list? Checkout the General Dynamics website if you want to buy one. Theres a great sales demo video of an A-10 Warthog using its Gatling to destroy a building and stuff on the web. I'd like to try a Hellfire missile against a sewage barge - just as it passes Big Ben...
Looking forward to the day at Bisley.

I am up for this. Funnily enough I was at Bisley last week for the Harley Owners do there. Just visiting but it did bring back memories of working in the butts and putting pennies in the scoring discs to see if you could get a hole in it!

Seriously though, it would be a great day out!

I went to the HOG rally - good, wasnt it? I'm sort of in the mkt for a Harley to go with the C5, but after going there on Saturday, I'm even more confused about which one I want.
Mind you, the way these guys keep on, looks like I'll have to chop in the lot and get a new ZO6? Decisions eh?

Hi Cheeky,

Where do you want me ?

A. In the new Red Vette "Zee Oh Six" at Bisley ? (At least that's what Ollie Gavin said Americans call them when he was interviewed after climbing the hill at Goodwood FOS).

or

B. Hosting you guys when you visit Racing Green ?

If you want to do that, may I suggest a Saturday visit ?

Yup, I finally got one ! Brought it in from Germany last weekend.

What was that quote ? I think from Henry Kissinger ?

"With Great Power comes Great Responsibility " !!

Updated to the new catchphrase "Shock and Awe".

Seriously though, what a superb, serious piece of hugely specced kit !

Guess I need to amend my Nickname for this forum, and to write some words for Godzilla's magazine !

Congratulations Chas!

And you've gone public too (David, this is who I couldn't talk about on Sunday).

Chas, bring the Vette along to Bisley and come for a shoot; I trust you can get a Friday (or half a Friday) off if we do it then?

OK, all we need now is a VY Z06 and we can do an all-colours photo somewhere...

PS Chas, if Racing Green services Moslers, presumably it could do bits with the LS7?

I know what you mean about the Z06 but, to be honest, I'd rather have the money! Pretty thing and great to drive I am sure, but.... I prefer to to mend my cars with a hammer rather than a computer. Just as well that we don't all like the same thing, I suppose!

On the Harley front,my friend runs a company called Harley Lifestyle which organises the delivery of your bike to bike Harley shows around the world. It means that you can take your bike to Sturgess and ride it around whilst they get it there and bring it back. Maybe we should do it for the cars - take your car to do the Route 66 thing etc.

He has good Harley contacts if you need any help choosing a bike etc.

Depending on the date, I'd like to be there but as non shooter as I have zero experience.
I'd probably end up missing a target and hitting someone by mistake!

Perhaps I could observe and be on camera duty?
Let me know if that is possible Cheeky.

Cheers.

No experience is absolutely no barrier - you should come and shoot, on the Z06 team if you've got one by then!

To give you an idea:
(a) most people won't ever have shot a target rifle at 1000 yards, if at all;
(b) last time I did this, someone who hadn't shot target rifle since school beat me at my own discipline, while I won the clays at which I had almost zero experience; and
(c) I scored 6 out of 120 in the black powder pistol, while a client of mine with no experience won with 78!

So you're shooting? You can still take your camera around with you...
