Remember when they laughed at the TR7?

Being made by BL was the thing that let the TR7 down.
It was the militant workforce and the way they deliberately sabotaged the cars that stuffed it. Sending them to the USA with sandwiches (sic)stuffed in the door trims! They deserved to be out of a job when production was moved to Canley. Performance wise, especially in v8 form it did really well. The Tullias car did especially well at IMSA without any factory support as I recall. They did well in rallying and also in OZ before 4wd was introduced.

Yes it's a different league. TR8's in racing blew away all the vettes of that era that competed not to mention all the porches to. Whats more the ls1 combo drops right into the 7 so no doubt it will still blow away all the vettes
Like you said, it's a different league

there used to be a Ferrari F40 bodykit available for the TR7, they called it the TR40, it did look very nice.
Don't start that off on here matey
you'll get flamed. The consensus was that it's dire! Mind you, I did like the front end of the kit. Best kit that I ever saw was a wide arched kit copied from the tullis car. I have some really good pics of it if anybody would care to upload them.

Drove a TR8 convertible out in California a long time ago. Fine car; shame the early hard-top body style and poor build quality (before production was moved away from Liverpool) had already killed the market. There's been a nice one out at Le Mans both 2004 and 2005 although I haven't seen one in the States for years.

My neighbour went to Le Mans this year, not sure about last year, with the car I've just described above. Was it a dark green metallic convertible you saw, if so could have been him.

Well said. You should see the abortion those imbeciles produced for the Chieftain tank. Absolute nightmare, though watching one running on its own sump oil until it exploded was highly entertaining!
A TR7 with a Rover V8 lump dropped in it was quite a sleeper back in the early 80's, & with the suspension suitably modified it cornered far better than you'd expect it to. The militants at BL should have been taken out & shot (I was about to say taken out & run over by a Chieftain, but the engine would have probably died before it reached them).

TR7's are sheds - reason I stopped racing in TR race series - too many TR7 V8 Shitters that were so cheap and just drove like they did not care - as they were so cheap and crap.
They can really go but better cars to modify.
I don't know why you stopped racing but the TR7 v8's of Mick Richards and Colin Pendle set no end of records and the cars were immaculately turned out certainly nothing like a shed. Fact is, none of the earlier cars seemed up to the job of beating them last time I looked. So the shitters you refer to are clearly faster track cars the all the other old tat on the track
. Even Steve Hall has seen the light and got one for rallying. All in all the TR7 V8 is a very competitive track or rally car. Cheap to run and buy, spares are available to. The lsx 6 speed box drops in (it really does the engine bays cavernous). A thunderbird 8.8 axle is only about 1n inch or so wider. Potential with these cars is huge.
