C5/C6 clutch life & change costs

I’m currently searching for a manual C6 or possibly C5 and before taking the plunge it would be very useful to have some guidance on the average life of a clutch (used for a normally driven car with no track days etc) and also the cost of getting a Chevy specialist to fit a new clutch (and maybe slave cylinder + flywheel?).
Would appreciate any views on this

Hi Nick,

I can't answer your questions specifically but my own c5 is a 2000 model with 84,000 miles, no issues at all with the clutch so they hardly eat them..

As a questimate i would of thought changing it would be around a grand but I'm sure others will be able to advise better. Wheeler dealers did an episode on a z06 and changed the clutch, worth a watch if you want to get an idea of whats involved.

Ps. If your new to these cars and need to know anything else c5 wise, give me a shout, i run mine as a daily so can give you a reasonable overview as to what they're like to live with and what you need to look out for.

My car had a gearbox rebuild at 180,000 miles (a bush replaced) and had the clutch upgraded to an LS7 at the same time, by the previous owner. Admittedly it spent most of its time on the freeway but the original clutch was reputed to have had very little wear when it was removed. They seem to last for a long time.
