Are there any C8's in the UK yet?
Discussion
uk C8 due 18 months after the launch in RHD, production now halted,no more 2020 C8,s so those pre ordered in states likely to be small batch as they move to 2021 production and that includes the Z06 version, because of shutdown UK model will probably be pushed back, you can personal import one but it will be LHD and you wont get a warranty which is strange because in the US all the big tuners hennessey etc and body shops have twin turbo,d modded the hell out of them and apparently that doesnt affect the warranty when i questioned it,the uk importer ian allen are will know more about dates but dont expect a lauch in the uk,gm doesnt recognise us and the pound low against the dollar we wont get the bargain the US have, dealers have been fined/castigated if the up the mrp
Just heard Z06 delayed for two years, weirdly McLaren is just around the corner from UK importer at Virginia waters, I've no doubt in the states they are worried it was recently pointed out the depreciation on a McLaren alone could buy you a C8, I would imagine first person in UK to get a C8 would be factory driver oliver Gavin from Yardley hastings, he's a legend
Its on you tube "rick corvette" I'm a member of bad boy vettes the most popular site for corvette owners, they give out daily posts, the Z06 has been pushed back to 2023 now, don't know what to do with my IMSA tribute C7 Z51 3LT now was planning to sell it but not sure now , I wanted to capitalise on the fact it only had a 5 year production run and no more were allowed in after 2019 due to being outlawed by euro 6 emmissions

Thanks for info Chris.
I was wondering if anybody had managed to get an early LHD car and export to UK. If anybody has done this, I'd imagine the car would be due to arrive about now.
Would the UK based rivals get a car for evaluation? I think this is common practice.
Probably US dealers are not allowed to sell new cars to an overseas customer/address. American Dreams in Gloucester were advertising a US spec car at £80k on Ebay. No "physical" photos, so maybe on the way? "Rivals" have to buy them, like anyone else. Know of 2 guys with UK spec C7s. One the first owner was Aston Martin, the other McLaren the first owner. Thanks for infoYes I saw that , nothing wrong with buying US spec C7,s except for sat nav is $800 conversion and mirrors different ( no side repeaters) mine is UK spec but I have the US mirrors, but the first C8,s are pre production models and you wouldn't want to find out a problem when you have no warranty ( dashboard stitching common problem apparently) the pound has bombed against $ at the moment so can't see any bargains

Sorry, that's false. The manager of the Corvette factory was interviewed by a third party from the National Corvette Museum. And this interview was shared by Rick Conti on his blog.
In the interview, the plant manager says that he's not sure when model year 2020 production will be restarted. He then explains the conditional variables. Based on the manager's explanations, an estimated restart date could be as soon as May 2020.
Rick Conti himself states on camera, on video, that model year 2020 is likely to restart in May, in his personal opinion.
A written explanation of this interview -- and the pause in production -- is included at the following link:

As an aside: Rick Conti sold me my Corvette.

Do you have a link to that?Following a report in The Detroit News, industry observers believe that the reveal of the C8 Z06 is delayed one year -- to 2021. For Corvette fans, this is not too great a matter, as no modern Z06 has ever gone on sale in the first year of series production. It's always been year two or later.

the info was a link from corvette forums on to the bbv site, production restart will probably be down to kentucky state rules about self distancing for employees plus they were probably tooling up soon anyway for 2021 model
At the motor1 .com link further above, the manager of the Corvette factory is quoted as saying that it's "too early to say whether convertible assembly can begin before the end of the 2020 model year."The man who "builds" these cars is saying that production of the 2020 model year is still on his to-do list. At least the coupes.

That's novel. But the factory manager says (again, at the aforementioned link) that the ability of outside suppliers to restart their own production lines is the major challenge to restarting 2020 model year production in Bowling Green.

Retooling tends to occur in late summer. Because the newest model of Corvette tends to appear in autumn of the year preceding. There have been exceptions, of course. chris lake said:
