The idea of a C3 appeals, but there is the possibility of importing a RHD conversion - from Australia. Has anyone done this, and is there a reason why you don't see more of them over here? (other than cost)

Can't comment directly on C3s, but I've seen photos (and comments) on C6 RHD conversions in Oz. The downsides seem to outweigh the benefits - the only reason the conversions are done is because it's the only option in Oz as you can't buy a new or recent LHD car.

Downsides for the C6 were:
- it's a botch job as there are no official parts so it's aesthetically and functionally challenged
- it's VERY expensive (I seem to remember it added 25% to the cost)
- you limit the potential market when you come to sell (many C6s went to mainland Europe secondhand when the exchange rate was favourable, which wouldn't be an option for RHD versions)
- you may also limit the appeal even in the UK (for many people, part of the experience of owning older Vettes or other US cars is that they're LHD)

Having owned a couple of Vettes and a Camaro, LHD isn't really an issue even as a daily driver. If there was a factory RHD version that'd be a different matter...but as there isn't, it's probably better just to live with LHD.

Don't be scared about driving a LHD C3 over here, you soon get used to it. Personally, I wouldn't touch a conversion as inveriably they are a bodge.
