Hi All,

I've just sold my C63 and have always had an itch for a Corvette - would be a C7 model.

I'm interested in hearing thoughts and views on market liquidity. How easy are these things to sell if one needed to?

The below car is of interest and I'd also love someone with more knowledge to tell me a bit more about it - i'm guessing a the engine work etc is all after market?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Many thanks,
Michael

IIRC the Corvette club has recently estimated there are only about 60 C7 stingrays in UK.

Any Corvette in decent condition is saleable, depending on price. Modified cars are likely to be harder to sell than standard cars. Basic questions also arise along the lines, "I wonder if the brakes were uprated to suit that 650 bhp engine?".

For just £5k more you could be away up the road and laughing in a brand new C7 with a 3 year warranty. Or if you really need 650 bhp you could buy a used Z06 instead.

What he says ^ there seems to be a few early (2015) C7's that have been up for sale for a while with 'dealers' - may be a lower spec' than 'official' UK cars. Probably bought in when £ vs $ was more favourable and US dealers were overloaded with early production cars? . The blowers are an off-the-shelf almost fit 'em yourself kit in the 'States from several reputable companies. Irrespectively this car (and others) are now coming up for three years old. Most likely manual's - 8 speeder auto came out the next model year I believe. IMHO its a balancing-up buying a without a UK OEM warranty/low rfl annual fee/no showroom tax and possibly £40K+ car annual car tax (you'll need to verify this) vs what will be a £70K UK vehicle and all that extra revenue our HMG want from us..............

Thanks for your thoughts. I would only be interested in buying an official UK supplied/non-import car. As I understand all UK supplied cars came with the Z51 package which is something I would want anyway.

Anyone considering selling?!

Ian Allan are selling their demonstrator I think - it was down at Goodwood last weekend. Nice spec Stingray, not much more than the one you were looking at. Worth a look? https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

In reality there's no reason to insist on a "Euro" model unless it's less than 3 years old and still under GM warranty. An import in appropriate specification will be very, very similar to a Euro car. SatNav etc should all have been fully converted.

The easiest way to recognise the difference is,

  • Euro car - Big door mirrors. Headlamp washers.
  • USA car - Smaller door mirrors. No headlamp washers.
Both of these features can be recognised on the yellow car pictured in your original link.

You might want to alter the link in your original post if that's your home postcode on the Autotrader search.

You are very close to Ian Allen, by the look of things. I'd go take a look there first and get to know what to look for.

I have just reduced the White one to make way for a new demo. That White one is now extremely good value for money!

Well despite booking ahead at Ian Allen it turns out I can't drive the Corvette.

The car I was looking at has apparently been sold and in any case I can't drive any of them because they don't have insurance for drivers under 30. A strange way to sell cars in my view especially given there were no issues driving an Exige V6 this morning or indeed any other test drives I've had prior to buying the C63.

the leading UK Corvette club is easily found online and they have events from time to time

maybe some of their C7 owners can help you to learn / experience more about that model

sorry if this is redundant / sounds dumb

1st July is the CCCUK Nationals at the Sharnbrook Hotel Bedford - we'll have all marques of Vette there - I'm sure there will be a number of C7's including verts, Grandsports and Z06's ~ http://www.thesharnbrookhotel.com/
