Does shoebagsviper still hang around here?
Discussion
Hi All,
So I've been a frequent user of this forum since being a member (when I was back at uni in 2004). I remember talking to shoebagsviper (Jan Pettifor) several years ago. Not been on this specific section in a long time but still read the topics here.
I work full time since 2007 (in IT). Still got a sweet spot for Corvettes (I love the C7 Z06) but unfortunately way out of my budget! Maybe a top-spec Camaro is more feasible (it's an impressive car and if not a GT-R).
Thanks

Jan lives in the US now with Nige (vetteheadracer on here). They have just gone back after a summer here with their C7R Z06.
I have just gone over to Camaro after 25 years in Corvette culminating in a 2013 C6 Grand Sport Convertible. Part exchanged it for a new UK spec Coupe which is equivalent to an SS in the US. Bought it from Ian Allan Motors who are the only official dealer.
Have to say that it is outstanding and is way better than my C6. Can't speak for the C7 although the LT1 engine and technology are identical. Absolutely no regrets.
A word of warning - do not test drive the Camaro as there will be no turning back.

Thanks. Hopefully Jan sees this thread. When I first posted on here back in 2004 she was friendly enough to email me and get to know me more, as I had (and have) a huge sweet spot for these cars.I have just gone over to Camaro after 25 years in Corvette culminating in a 2013 C6 Grand Sport Convertible. Cool dealership, wow 111k for a C7 Z06 Looks amazing though!
Is there a way to get the Camaro SS 1LE in the UK? That's the car that did the really fast Nurburgring lap I believe.
I definately need to rent a Corvette when I go to the states, that's for sure!
Yes I am still around although I don`t spend much time on PH. I am living in America but come home 4 times a year to see my family. Spending most of my time involved in trying to bring an end to whale & dolphin captivity. I have 4 billboards up in Florida & attend the protests outside SeaWorld, Orlando where they still keep Orcas inside concrete swimming pools. Currently helping with the Whale Sanctuary Project which will be a sanctuary for ex captive Orca & Beluga whales www.whalesanctuaryproject.org Have sold a few of my cars but have something on order. Thanks for asking after me Z064life & hope all is going well with you too.

Seen one of your billboards last time I was there, couldn't agree with what you're doing anymore than I already do. shoebag said:

Really interested in the Whale Sanctuary Project. I know you mentioned it when chatting at Helmingham Hall in the summer, so thanks for posting the link. I can follow it's progress now!shoebag said:

Thanks Jan. I've been good thanks. I was recovering from an op over the last few weeks so I just, in a way randomly, remembered talking to you and thought I'd get in touch as I've moved on from my uni days etc.I have also dropped you an email to your original address, hopefully you still monitor that address.
