C7 pointless to import ATM?
Discussion
Been doing a lot of research into importing a c7 and with the currant pants exchange rate the numbers are coming out give or take a few sheckels about the same, so given an import won't have the warranty and all the hassle that goes with getting it on the road once landed, it's seems a no brainier to buy a Euro spec car. Just posting in case I'm missing something before I pull the trigger and slap down a deposit.
My 2015 C7 is an import. I wanted an 8-speed auto and they weren't offered in Europe when I ordered my car. All the early European C7s were manual transmission cars. (And, for information, early C7 auto's in North America had the older 6-speed auto box.)
Would I import a C7 now? Absolutely not. The price/ spec' available from the official UK importer renders it pointless IMO.

I imported a new C6 in 2005 and with almost 2 dollars to the pound then ,it was worth the extra hassle.
I got my new C7 Z06 from Ian Allan in April after looking at the costs of another import.
Taking into account that I have a Euro spec car with a three year warranty it was an easy choice.

What's your experience of the z06 since April, I'm undecided on z06 or grand sport. Have the over heating issues been ironed out now on the z ? I got my new C7 Z06 from Ian Allan in April after looking at the costs of another import.

I have had no overheating problems with my Z06 but the 2017 models of which mine is one ,have been modified to solve the problem.
I love the Z06 but to be honest the Grand Sport makes more sense. There is almost too much power (660 HP) and the tyres break loose in the dry if you are a little heavy footed. I am not brave enough to switch off the traction control in the dry let alone in the wet!
The Grand Sport has the looks of the Z06 with all the performance you need for the road and quite a saving on the price.
The Z06 may be the one to go for if you intend to do Track days however.
If you are intending to buy from Ian Allan I would ask for a test drive of both models.

Thanks fo your reply, I've driven the standard stingray at Ian Allen, can't really go too mad with the salesman sitting next to you, maybe I'll get a drive in a grand sport as I'm not bothered about track use.I love the Z06 but to be honest the Grand Sport makes more sense. Ordered a C7 from Ian Allen last year before the price went up with the Brexit pound/dollar exchange rate. List price was 62K, I've since noticed it is now 69K; that's a big hike. Done 3K miles now and I'm over the moon with it; plenty of power without it being stupid. It's a stunning looking car and always turns heads, especially at Le Mans this year. Wish I had a pound every time someone takes a picture of it. There might be hope on the horizon with the future trade deal with the U.S, but that will be a while coming. I looked at importing one myself, but by the time you've paid all the taxes, duty, shipping and insurance there is no cost saving; they've got all the bases covered. Even though the price has gone up you still get very good value for money.
Like VetteEd, I purchased from Ian Allan pre-Brexit (2017 Camaro). You'd have to do the maths and trade off the hassle (and risk of damage) of importing, IVA, registration and a Sat Nav & Radio that don't work without modification, against a UK car with a three year warranty and dealer support.
Of course, as we get nearer to the final Brexit there's no telling how the forex market will react, but I guess the drop in sterling the day the referendum result was announced may hold a clue...................

If you're planning to track it, the Grand Sport is the one to get IMO. As scs1 says, the Z06 is probably too mental; with 650hp and RWD you will never get anywhere near its limits on the public road, although if you tracked it it would be extremely fast. (And apparently they've fixed the cooling issues.)
If you're only really going to drive it on the road with the occasional track day, the regular old Stingray with the Z51 pack is just about perfect.

Just for clarification the list price for a 2LT Manual is £64,010.00.
VetteEd can you let me know where you have seen those figures?I want to ensure prices are correct where vehicles are advertised please.
Errm, your own website says £62,470! VetteEd can you let me know where you have seen those figures?I want to ensure prices are correct where vehicles are advertised please.
Even adding £840 of "EU delivery etc costs" that's only £63,310
GM have increased the price of 18 model year vehicles hence the difference in price between my quoted price here and the website.
The website is in the process of being updated with 18 model prices.
VetteEd, correct the cars I have advertised have some options on which is the difference.
