Corvette vs AM Vantage V12
Discussion
I will say this quietly in case it gets picked up in the AM Forum... I test drove a V12V last week, quite excitedly given the great press they get, and thinking the manual ones will hold their value over time.
But couldn't help feeling that it wasn't as nice as the C6 Z06 I used to have. Yes it's got more leather, alcantara and so on, is possibly better quality finish... but I just kept thinking (and this is from a car I had 5 years ago) it feels heavy, doesn't steer as nicely, is harder to see out of, rides much harder etc etc. Yes a lovely car, but the Vette with its free revving 7 liter V8 is every bit as good as the V12, and the car is lighter, airier and nicer to drive.
Just saying....!!

I heard you spyker...... C7 Gran sport is a very nice car, C6 against a V12V hmm not so sure both are muscle cars so in theory similar but come on the Aston has so much class that the corvette could only dream about, plus as you said the quality of the Aston is in a completely different league.
But as said the C7s are much improved.

Yes the Aston is a nicer place to sit quality wise - but the Vette is much easier to see out (which matters sometimes), and is still a great place to be - and over a long ownership I found it great. I have other cars that put the Aston to shame from a quality of interior point of view, so I was more commenting on it as a driving proposition. I was disappointed with the V12V steering and general 'feel'. I've driven a V8V to Monaco and back and that felt a lot lighter and easier to place and drive on the limit. The V12V felt heavy for such a small car (it is) and not as agile as I expected. Also the engine makes great sounds, is obviously stonkingly fast, but was not as much fun as the LS7 engine IMHO. Just a viewpoint, and maybe not conventional opinion, and maybe just part of my current grumpiness that cars are getting much too heavy and far too big.But as said the C7s are much improved.
Obviously i love the V12V but your point about how you sit in the car i,m not to sure about as every time i have driven a Vette it seems to me that i,m sitting right over on the left side of the car making all of the corners seem miles away and making the car feel larger than it is.
But hey its great that we all have so many great choices and different views.
All the best Paul.

I had a V8 Vantage in-between vettes. Biggest disappoint ever. Horrible clutch. Terrible drive line shunt. Dreadful build quality. And not that fast at all.
Was a 2006 car with with 28,000 on the full AM history. Another Corvette came up for sale and four years in with this C6 Z06 I couldn't be happier.
