C5 or C6 Convertible ?
Discussion
Hi,
I currently have a 2004 TVR Cerbera Speed 6 but I'm thinking about something American as my next bucket list car & the Corvette C5 or C6 convertible appeals to me.
Looking at the market you seem to be able to get a late C5 or early C6 for between £ 20 - £ 25k, is it worth paying a bit extra for the C6 ( I do quite like the pop-up headlights on the C5 )
Also how are prices going with these models, are they likely to fall further or are they stable / rising ?
The car will be used for mainly Summer weekend drives & trips away ( around 2 - 3k miles / year ) & it's easier to justify the expense if there's a chance I could at least get my money back in 2 or 3 years time.
Finally what is the boot ( trunk ) like on the convertible ? Ideally I need something you can fit a few weekend bags in but we're going on a 2 week trip from the Uk through Switzerland, Italy & South of France in the Summer & the Cerbera is ideal for this as it has quite a large boot, would the Corvette Convertible be suitable or should I wait until we've done this trip ?
Many thanks for your time.
Phil.

I had an '01 C5 convertible and currently have an '08 C6 convertible. The C6 is faster, handles better and has an nicer interior...but the C5 is still a great car. In terms of practicality, the C6 boot is a bit smaller than the C5, but still big enough to get decent sized suitcases and wheelie bags in. Only thing to bear in mind is that you pretty much halve the boot size on the C6 if you want the (electric) roof down as there's an internal partition that has to be in place - on the C5 you can squeeze stuff underneath the folded (manual) roof which can be handy. Your best bet is probably to find someone local with a convertible so you can see it for yourself (I know - easier said than done!).
