Well, the time I never thought would come is upon me. I thought we were together for life and would be buried together.
After over 13 years of wedded bliss, although she still wants to continue the relationship by being on the button and snicking through her short shifting six speeds manually and noisily whenever asked, a problem in my right eye means that lhd style over the shoulder rear visibility is a little difficult these days. So me and my little girl are going to part as I no longer do her justice regularly enough. I guess it is an age thing...
Not going to advertise her and have the annoyance of idiots with no thought of purchase looking at her little blemishes on her nose accumulated over many (many) happy miles together, will take the hit and PX her for a car for my daughter, probably this weekend.
Not looking forward to it at all
Sorry, vent over. As you were.

Wow I felt the pain in that statement, and all I can say is what a lucky girl your daughter is, on the positive side you can look back fondly and say "yeh I had a corvette and enjoyed every dam moment" and not be one that looks back and says, "I wish I had gotten me one of those corvettes when I was younger" better to have had than to not have, your still be part of the corvette family as that stays with you regardless
Yet to see a new driver who doesn't smack their first car in some way.
Bought my daughter a Polo and it was t-boned in the first week ("I thought he was turning left as he was indicating into where I was just coming out of, but he went straight on and into me!!") Other daughter reversed out of a space without watching the front as she swung the car round and did in the front wing! My coach painter mate says that 90% of his work is down to new drivers!
That's a big deal to give up your Corvette for a daughter's new car, hope she really appreciates what that means to you, ..must say though, I wouldn't do that myself, our old C4 means waaay too much to us. It stays no matter what.
Plenty of decent, nearly new, used cars out there at bargain prices for the new drivers to practice on.

I understand what you say. A few years ago the thought of selling was impossible, and stated many times on here and cccuk threads. My life has changed quite a lot lately so the Vette has sadly become less of a factor. First 9 years of ownership = 140,000 miles. Last four years = 8,000 miles.
The daughter is a fairly sensible girl of 30 (next week) and will be ferrying around her 2 kids in said motor. I plan to be doing what I did with all the others I have helped through their test - formal instructor for the latest test needs, and me for thousands of miles experience of things that she will be seeing for the first time all over the south open roads and city centres.
I actually do know quite a few people who didn't stack their first car in any way. One of them is her mum who was also a late starter, and two more are me and her sister who both started legally at 17, and who all did the same thousands of miles approach before the test. Two step daughters (same approach) also dentless for a long time apart from a part time copper who hit one up the arse whilst parked about 6 years after passing. I guess we were just not trying hard enough...
Not saying that it is impossible to happen, but she should have a fair bit of experience rather than just driving around test routes before she is let out on her own. So hopefully not... (worry, fuss and frets in the corner... plans even huuuugerrrrr road trips from March 1st)
I can understand that.. I have three daughters and a son. Son doesn't drive as he's a chef in Glasgow with its excellent public transport systems.
The girls do though, and I remember teaching them to drive and after the first one passed, I thought to myself.. "..what have I done? ..what if!" and after the T-bone accident, I was a worried man for a long while, but its been ok since and they drive all over the UK now.
I'm sure you'll find something to replace your C5.. C4's are good buys right now (I like L98's) and great fun if your a tinkerer, which to me gives an added dimension to Corvette ownership that you don't get too often with newer models (..unless your handle is roppa440, ..haha!!) and without the rust issues with C3's, although there have been a few times when I threatened to replace my '87 with something simple like a Karmann Ghia!!
