After looking for a while the cheapest C7 I found in the UK is £52k lil bit over my budget :-(

I can get something like this 2014 car 7k miles for £33k in the states , allowing £500 transfer to dock £1500 shipping and tax and duty would be £45600 al in so a worthwhile saving , but after calling and emailing a couple of recommended US car specialists in the UK about conversion costs a week later no one has got back to me .....
Has anyone done this and know the costs involved ???

Any advice gratefully received :-)

choice of nearly 2700 C7s in the states on Autotrader.com under $60000 compared to about 5 in the UK

i am having the same thoughts about buying in the states and shipping back to the Uk so i shall keep an eye on this thread as well, thanks for posting !

Getting it back here is the easy bit, its what is required afterwards that is causing the headaches.

Have you spoken to the likes of "Ship my car"? I'd call rather than mail, but I've usually managed to get the sort of information I've needed via that route.

You're gonna be looking at circa £2k to get professionally converted, IVA'd, registered and taxed. It may be alittle more but unlikely to be much less.

Now weigh up the lack of Warranty, what you may haggle off the UK/euro car and most of all the ability to inspect/drive the car.

Not talking you out of it, I imported two yanks for personal use last year but it's not as straightforward a decision as may first appear.

Not seeing the car and drive it isn't that big a deal, it's a new car and should be fine. If you want you can always get a pre purchase inspection done on any car your looking at. Ship my car in Milton Keynes handled my viper and we're excellent, speak with then and get an idea of quotes.

Just noticed on their instagram account a c7 so looks as if they have already done one and should have a good idea of how much work it will take to get it on the road for you.

I've a C7 Z06 and am in the states at the moment but will be bringing my car back with me next year. As far as my research has taken me the only things you will need to add/ change are side indicator repeaters and a fog light. Shouldn't be too expensive at all and you could probably get a very neat fit without having to change the whole rear LED lights to include the foglight. I was thinking about replacing one reflector with a red LED strip for the foglight. My car, obviously, has the clear LED rears on the Z06 that don't come with the euro versions.

I'm in the process of having my 2011 Grand Sport made road legal as it's just cleared customs and will be collected from Felixstowe port by Sigma Automotive. I'll let you know how I get on.

I think you may have to change the head lights as well as I remember talking to a UK dealer who sells new C7's in the UK at the classic car show in London and im sure the headlights were an item that needed changing and was a couple of grand if my memory serves me correctly, may be worth checking that out as its a big number if an oversight, for me I will always opt for the import car as the road tax is a great deal cheaper (£230 a year I believe) which adds up over the years

managed to get one in the UK :-) fully loaded 3LT Z51 manual box which is exactly what I wanted :-)
The cheaper tax would of been nice on an import but at least I get a full 18 months Chevrolet warranty on this as a UK supplied car ...
I am very happy with the car and would highly recommend one so much more improved over the C5 or C6 really feels like it has jumped 3 generations !

My C6 2011 Grand Sport has just gone through the IVA process. I should be getting my car in about 14 days.

One hidden cost of importing from the US or elsewhere outside of the EU is the sell-on value of the car. Euro-spec cars are worth more in the UK because they can be sold to the rest of Europe as homologation/registration is straightforward in France etc. It's almost impossible and very expensive to register a non euro-spec car across the channel.
