Hi all,

Time for another new set of tyres... I ran GY Supercar RFTs from new and for the first replacement, and wasn't impressed. For the next change I switched to PZero runflats and they were much better (and have lasted nearly twice as long!) but nobody seems to stock them in C6 rear size any more... It looks like my options are either go back to GY Supercars or switch to Michelin PS2 ZP or Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZP. (Having had several punctures - which were fixable - I prefer to stay with runflats)

Does anybody have experience of the Super Sport ZPs? How do they compare to the Supercar RFTs in terms of grip, noise, life, etc? I drive the car all year round, so wet/cold performance is at least as important as dry/warm performance.

Thanks,
Gary

I have Pilot Sport ZP

Been happy with them, more grip than the stock, but that said they were balled when replace hehehe

I have in the past run Continental Sport Contact 3's on my Z06, they are non runflats and handled much better, its back on stock Eagle F1 Supercars now though.

Bought a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZP and had them fitted yesterday. Obviously too soon to give a definitive view, and it's always an unfair compare versus old worn tyres...but first impressions are that they're quieter than the Pzero RFTs (which in turn were quieter than the GY Supercar EMTs) and a little smoother riding. I'll update when I've had a chance to do a few more miles. Also be interesting to see how long they last as the GY Supercars never lasted more than 13-14K whereas the PZeros lasted 20K miles and still had a bit of life left in them! Got a great price though from TyreLeader so even if they only last 10K I'll be quids in smile

BTW, is it just me or is there more cr*p on the roads these days? I'd never had a puncture until I got the C6, and now in 7 years I've had 4 punctures with 2 of them in one of the rear tyres I've just replaced (first one a screw shortly after fitting it and a nail a week or two ago). Definitely convinces me to stick with run-flats as I'd have been screwed (or nailed smile ) with regular tyres - coming back to a run-flat with no air in it just means plugging in the compressor to get to your destination and buys time until the new boots get shipped over...

Now I've done a few more miles, a few more thoughts. Tyre noise is very low on most road surfaces, and the ride seems pretty smooth even on rough roads. Grip and traction seem good considering the low temperatures at the moment, and turn-in definitely feels sharper than the PZeros (probably on a par with the GY Supercars). Nicest surprise is that the tramlining I used to get on uneven surfaces (especially the clockwise M25 between J9 and J10!) has now all but disappeared...and as I haven't touched the wheel alignment it must be down to the tyres. Also noticed that the rim protection seems more prominent than on the PZeros.
