Cheers in advance. My 1998 C5 needs a new battery, i think i will get an Optima. Not sure if i should get a red or yellow top. Any advice and best place to buy it would be appreciated.

I put a red top in my C5 some years ago, and it was fine for a few years until my usage dropped, and journeys were shorter.

After the winter lay-up last year I needed a new battery for it in a hurry and picked one up from f1 auto centres believe it or not with the right CCA specifications and stupidly cheap from memory. Still ok now, turns over slightly slower but does the job, so maybe a 700 CCA would have been better.

Yellow top is for boats and caravans, where the usual use cycle involves draining the battery with lights, TV etc while the engine's not running. Unless you live in your Corvette you shouldn't need one.

"The YELLOWTOP high-performance AGM battery has everything you need. Its one of the few true dual-purpose automotive batteries available, and performs above expectations as a tractor battery, forklift battery, or for other applications. With premium cranking power and impressive cycling capability, this heavy duty battery is also perfect for modern accessory-loaded vehicles. The YELLOWTOP can repeatedly be brought back from deep power drains to full charge, so it can power plenty of electronics and still start you up time after time. Low internal resistance also provides more consistent power output and faster recharges."

Red top is a spillproof car battery. It's also a more sensible price.

Delco is a Corvette battery (although they can be hard to find in UK).

Tayna seem to be well regarded as a battery supplier,
