Sorry mate couldn't help myself ! I would start with checking the sparks and then compression test it, I had Range Rover that sounded like that, turned out to be a broken valve spring.

No problems - funny post! - In the 'States they refer to it as a 'Ghost' noise - generally 'cos no one knows WTF it is.
