Yes, I signed the legal waiver, wandered to the brink of the "hole" and look down. Trust me; it's big.

The museum itself contains very little about the new Stingray. Not much has changed since my visit when C6 was launched 10 years ago. Most noticeably there's no C7 aluminium chassis on display. And no LT1 motor.

The cars rescued from the hole are on display. Some utterly destroyed and others, whilst superficially recognisable, also very seriously damaged. No doubt all capable of restoration although I'd estimate between 80% and 95% new parts required for all of them.

Plenty of Stingrays being built during our factory tour. Coupes, convertibles, base cars and Z51s. Until the tour I hadn't realised that all Euro cars (Z51s) will be dry sump.

Plenty of Stingrays being collected from "Museum delivery". Also quite a few base model cars standing on dealer forecourts for between $60k and $70k (that's £35k to £41k!!!!!!).

I'll take mine as a 2015 coupe in Crystal Red with an 8-speed auto....

Here are some pics, starting with a tour of Bowling Green plant.

This one's the right colour.

Then checking out some museum deliveries.

And jumping in a car of the right colour....

Yours, with full leather 3LT interior, for just £38,250 ($65,000)

Outside the Corvette museum an official-looking bloke offered to sell me a cubic foot of the sink-hole for $5,000. We haggled a bit and after pushing really hard I eventually got it for just $2,275 cash. Shipped it home no trouble.
