Corvette C6, 2007 Air Con cycles between cold and hot

Hi,
Regarding 2007 C6 Corevtte
I need a bit of help as the mechanics here in Dubai are generally useless.....so I am reluctant to let the local Dealers mechanics fiddle with it until I have some kind of idea as to likely causes.

My ac blows cold ok on start up, then suddenly looses its cooling capacity for a while before resuming refrigeration again a while later.
Sometimes, if I break my journey for a few minutes, on resuming my journey it wont cool at all until I have driven 7-8km and then the ac starts pumping out cool air again which it will do for a while before loosing its chilling again. It will then kick in again later as randomly as it dropped out.

The fan runs continuously throughout.

It doesn't appear to be speed related.

Bearing in mind that it is often 44 degrees, I want to get it fixed promptly!

Found another one, seems to me like too high a pressure in a/c system.
One post said to discharge the system and recharge, he says it takes 1.1 lbs.
