Importing a '14 stingray
Discussion
take the $ off put a £ on
add sales tax in the US for new cars (varies by state but unavoidable of registering it there, possible to go direct to export and not pay it with a helpful dealer or register in a tax free state)
or
US price /exchange rate
+ local transportation cost to docks
+ £1500 shipping
+ 1% marine insurance
+ 10% duty
+ 20% VAT
+ £500+ IVA work and test

The odds of not having to pay Sales Tax are slim to nil. The last dealers to be caught exporting cars received fines that ran into hundreds of thousands of dollars and given the organic demand in the US I doubt there are many prepared to take the risk on selling an untitled car.
IVA inc. test fees etc. is likely to run past £2,500 if not £3,000. Current GM product is becoming ever more complicated to work on even for us with all the diagnostic equipment. We are seeing more and more cases of blown BCM's on Mustang's and Camaro's from failed/poor quality conversions as a result.
I really would be surprised if there was an economic benefit to importing a Stingray right now, regardless of my apparent bias.

Thanks for all the useful info, slightly disappointing but there you go!
As it happens my friend out there who's looking to buy one has a 1999 transam for sale which he bought new when I lived out there. He's had it ever since and polished it every day as far as I can tell doing very few miles. I loved that car back then and he's trading it in so maybe I should consider buying that instead.
