Anyone know it? Cant say I know a lot about Corvettes but this one seems very nice. Maybe to cheap, which worries me.

You guys are the experts so I am asking is it to cheap? Is it known? Would you?

Thanks folks.

Its coming from Corvette kingdom so it will be on the ball, Scott who runs CK does not let rubbish out of the door. I know because before I let them rebuild my Corvette I researched all of the 'specialists' in the UK and CK came out on top by a country mile. Give him a call, he will give you an honest appraisal, even better go see them and take your money because you will buy it!

Thanks for the info. So why is it so cheap. From what I have seen a C3 in this condition should be going for £25k plus. Is it because it is not that old or vintage? Love the cars but like I say, don't know enough about them.

No its priced right, Corvettes are not 'up there' with other classics just now. The earlier ones command more, but you still get a lot of bang for your buck. Get a good one and it will be cheap to run (except for petrol biggrin ) but spares are for the most part reasonable and they are easy to work on. They are all left hand drive which puts many off, but its no big deal and is an added bonus on continental runs.

If you want more help or info drop me a pm and I will give you my email and phone number.

Thanks mate. Fuel is no biggy, I make the stuff hence the name! Seriously considering it and just want to get a solid one.

Always thought they are one of the top 3 cars for looks ever. Right up there with the E-type in my book.

Its also advertised on the Corvette club website, its only done 24K miles and is a collectors edition with only some 6,700 being made, it got the 700R4 overdrive gearbox so will get between 20 and 28mpg. This appears to be a great car (I dont know the car or the owner, honestly), one of the last C3's, seats look great and should be very comfortable. You obviously rate Corvette's so my advice is to go see it, chat to Scott and drive it. If its as good as the ad says you will buy it!

As stated above if its coming from CK it will be in good order, Scott has a reputation to keep so would not sell it if it was at all bad news, and would be toatlly honest up front of anything that needed doing, as above £25k would befr early 69 c3 cars through to about 72-73 if in very good condition, the mid 70's like the 75 (i have a 75) are looked upon as gutless due to the emmission regulations in that period so power was down and the are classed as beaulivard cuisers, having said that they are reliable and comftable, all depends what you want from it, power did start to return in the late 70's but not to the extent of the early cars, but they still are not slow, they sound gorgeous and look the nuts, the later cars had the round back window and the early cars (upto 77 i think) had the flat back window, all down to personell prference.
Go see it you will be pleasantly supprised biggrin (had mine 17 years and still love it)

The price doesn't seem steep nor cheap to me. Pretty much spot on in my book. Later C3's aren't the ones that fetch the big money. Good cars for casual, easy to use classics though.

More money but arguably on the tip of future collectability is this first year 427 C3 with Claremonts - change the tyres though for correct period aspect ratio rubber - tax exempt too!

It's probably academic as it's classic but these cars only made about 180hp from the factory. Still love it though.

Having spoken to Scott this isn't a Collectors Edition. It is a stock 81 so only 190bhp. Still looks very nice though.

Ah, the owner needs to change his Ad then. 190hp that's not the best from a 5.7 V8, thats the trouble with all the post 73 C3s completely choked with emission control stuff. My 70 originally produced 300hp as standard, it now produces a tad more wink

You can always go for more power gains later. Great aftermarket out there for these cars.

Go for it, your wife will love it. Then you can start building the power of the engine wink

The reason its `competitively` priced is because its an 81. L81 Smog engine and all that. Thee 190bhp engine is a bit limited in its potential for more power compared to other vette engines I was informed. Still, that fell on deaf ears and I really pondered over this one.
Still, its a stunning looking car. Probably will get more attention than anything else you could buy for that money. Just don`t expect to win any drag races but who cares? Stunning motor.

Not that difficult to "de smog" these cars and release the power.

I am also considering this one, which certainly has more power.

The second car you are looking at states crate engine which will always mean the car won't be worth as much as a matching numbers car ie original engine, all depends on what you want, yes everyone slates the 190hp engine BUT depends what you want? Reliability, good mpg fun to drive, car setup originally for unleaded ...... And so on, I used to be really hung up on wanting more power in my 75 165hp car but to be honest its not slow as such, still fun to drive, sounds the nuts with the chambered exhausts and still returns reasonable mpg, I would suggest you go drive both and see the difference, the newer car will be a lot smoother and easier to drive the older will be a hand full but big grin factor, depends on how you are going to use it and how much ?
