Something doesn't seem quite right, does it? Can't see a targa top either.

I can't see anyone doing that to an undamaged car. If you had a Z06 with a damaged roof and trunk lid however,it would be a lot harder to find a replacement rear glass section than it would to find a top half for a C5. But then you need a latch dock for the roof panel...........The instruments have the Z06 logo though, and the VIN has a Z06 engine letter, could it be possible it was BUILT like that at the factory ?

Thoroughly intriguing....at first I wasn't believing but in inspection it has the correct seats, gauges, rear brake ducts, wheels and exhaust for a Z06. It is missing the front mesh inserts however. It does appear to be a Targa and has the correct back window etc for it but that would be an expensive job to do for no reason. It also appears it may not have its original motor. I'd love a VIN number as I bet this car has history.

It isn't UK registered by all appearances and whilst he is correct that it only requires an MOT for its age, with no UK lighting he is pushing his luck....

I reckon Mitch's enquiries will be "interesting" to say the least.

I can't see the factory building it, but some American may have thought it a good idea to install a removable roof panel. Take a look at Corvetteforum.com - it's amazing what they can dream up and even more amazing when they actually do it!!!

I can't see it has a targa. Can't be that hard to convert, I wouldn't have thought. I always preferred the coupe to the Z06 roofline.

Funny how tastes vary. Always been the other way for me.

Dam you V8YEA for landing me on pages of Z06 stuff on eBay. More stuff I probably didn't need now ordered.....

Quite interesting this. As someone has previously noted it is indeed a Z06 as its VIN makes clear and it does not have a Junk or Salvage title either. It gets interesting when looking at its warranty and recall history though. It's last recall was carried out in Texarkana on 29/04/2008 at 152,759 miles. It's warranty history includes replacement of pistons, rods and rings as well as inlet manifold at varying points in its life.

But hang on, it's only done 44,000 miles.....hasn't it?! wink

Disgraceful, but probably not entirely unexpected. Some recent US imports do seem to have a "story" to tell.

It has a replacement 2003 engine. The original probably had the rings done under the recall for 01 car?

It would seem that way. I am not sure if that's where the extra 110,000 miles went though.

Into the profit margin no doubt.............. Still doesn't explain the top half of the car, it could even be a doppelganger, although I'm not suggesting it is. Does Carfax say it was exported ? or uninsured loss ? where are the Z06 front wing badges ?.
Whatever it is/was, I think it's a hard thing to sell without factory back up.
Two things are true in life, there is no such thing as a cheap Corvette or a cheap Rolex.................

A friend of mine contacted the seller the other day, or tried to.. What he could make out, was that the car is actually registered on Polish plates (hence the £55 registration fee and no road tax), but due to its “history” on the British roads, the owner put fake US plates so that the authorities would not clamp it or tow it away from the street where it’s kept.. Makes you think…
