I received the following e-mail today and am posting it on here to let those not in the Surrey region CCCUK know aabout it. If it was you, make your own mind up on your course of action.

Gents,
Can you help ? I have been contacted by the Surrey Police who are anxious to contact the driver of a Corvette probably from your area. The car was Black or similar dark colour and was driving down Sands Hill Lane, Virginia Water last Saturday (18th) between 7.30 and 9.30pm.
If you know of a possible candidate and are able to contact them would you get them to contact PC Brown on 01306 676377 or 6380.
Many Thanks
This is not driving or car related !

Maybe the nice policeman wants to buy a 'vette? Lookout if they want to use it as a traffic car though...

I saw a black Corvette C5 ragtop on A40 westbound on the way back from university the other day. Ok so it's London not Sussex, but who knows.

It was probably Batman speeding away from Bucking-Ham Palace.

As knowledgeable as our police service is, I think not that Corvettes would be a speciallity

Doh! Tristram I thought this was current until I got to the bottom of your post! My Vette was red back then (as it is now just a bit more faded) so it wasn't me.

Perhaps the BiB in question has a fully tricked Mustang and wants a traffic light drag race with said person?

No, it is a very serious crime they're investigating.

You can imagine the kinds of words I said when I received a letter postmarked Surrey Police out of the blue ! Was relieved to find out it wasn't a NIP and nothing I could help them with other than reviving this old thread.

But is it a serious crime where the Corvette driver is suspected??

If it is then I can't see anyone rushing forward as they will probably know what it is about. Glad my Vette's yellow.

I got one this morning aswell and my first thought was oh Sh1t a nip, then i opened it and thought o sh1t again for whoever it concerns.
Its not worth me answering back as it doesnt concern me and me and my car were no where near the place however is it worth contacting the police to give them an idea of what type of corvette they are looking for?,year or modified?

Presumably the Corvette would have been a potential witness to a serious crime, since they would not go to this effort ordinarily.

I would imagine therefore that some kind of serious offence took place in that locale and that they are looking for every help they can to assist finding the person or persons involved.
