I must say I have been awaiting this for some time and am a little dissapointed with the result lookswise. The previous C6 was a beautifully "clean" and uncluttered design whereas the C7 is a bit fussy and looks more like a shape that has been in production for a while and has been "pepped up" towards the end of its lifespan. The bonnet is over-contoured and the headlamps similar to oh so many others. The front looks over done in much the same way as the 2013 Viper looks over done.
The rear quarter window is an unwelcome first for a 'vette and looks like a stretched Nissan GTR piece. The rear lamp arrangement shows the DNA from the current model Camaro, but I don't want to look at a Corvette and think "Camaro". Perhaps it'll grow on me, I didn't like the C5 or C6 very much when they first came out but I appreciate both designs now. The really sad thing is that the 2009 concept vehicle really did hit the mark, being both daring and slightly retro at the same time with clear Corvette heritage. Personally I'm a little deflated about this, but hey if it appeals to the masses and sells then that's certainly the most important thing for the Corvette, we've kissed goodbye to too much GM history in the last few years, the last thing we, as fans of these cars, want to see is the new car flop.

I couldn't disagree more.

The Corvette design has been stuck in a rut for a long time now. The C1, C2 and C3 and even C4 were all quite radical and compelling designs. My favourite Corvette used to be the C5 (it's now the C7) and for me, the massive disappointment of the rehashed C6 never went away as they tried to cater for the golfers and rehash the C4 design cues. The C6 always looked extremely boring next to a Sagaris.

Thank god they've dumped the Corvette cliches and have gone for something more radical. I love the whole car - sure it has touches of Viper and LFA in there but that is bad how?

Given the way sales were going, this is the kick up the ar*e that the Corvette needed. If I had the cash, I'd have one tomorrow with no apologies needed. I think more people will feel that way too as it looks like a brand new start and a bit more serious in its intent.

The phrase "butt ugly" has been around for years........just waiting for this car.

It's stunning, right up to the B pillar, then it all goes horribly wrong frown

Should look better as a 'vert, in black. But it'll still have those horrible rear lights.

Somehow I knew you'd love it tongue out

The front end really is stunning, but that rear really is hurl

Just wish they'd continued with the clamshell rear screen...........a less extreme version of this would have been perfect

Then sort out those rear lights.....
