Hello all,

Well my C3 is finally all fixed and running well (touch wood). I'm loving it now and taking any opportunity to use it. Even took it to Tescos the other day despite the total lack of boot!

Anyway, now it's mechanically alright I'm going to start looking at some of the other things. At the moment it has a modern CD player/radio, but is still connected to the original speakers. This gives a rather quaint 70's tinny sound to everything. Whilst around town and back roads the engine provides the soundtrack, on longer journeys I'd like to be able to have some decent tunes on the go.

Has anyone on here upgraded their speakers? If so does anyone know if you can get replacement ones which look like the old ones and slot into their place? Or any other ideas for subtle upgrades without ruining the period interior? Also can you get replacements for the radio ariel, which is currently the original fixed in place half meter jobbie (looks ugly!)?

Other jobs now will be to sort the paint out, getting it properly polished and the front bumper resprayed at some point. Anyone got any top tips for polishing out micro scratches?

Thanks!

You can get after market speakers aerial etc. from the likes of Corvette Central or Zip Corvette in the USA, if you don't like importing Corvette Kingdom have regular containers from Corvette Central. Go to the detailing section of PH for paint refurb recommendations.

in regards to polishing...

you can get a polisher and go through various grades of cutting compound course to fine.... however its possible to 'burn' through the paint if you keep it in one place too long.

unless you have experience might be better to send it to a detailer...

The previous owner of my C3 had a pioneer head unit, speakers and amp installed. There are two speakers in the foot wells behind the original grills and two more mounted in the back of the storage compartment along with an amplifier.

Here's a pic of the amp and rear speaker install:

I'm only in Colchester - you are more than welcome to come and check it out if you want, just PM me.
