I know this topic has come up several times before but as I need some rears for the C6 I wondered what the current state of affairs was with regard to tyres.

My situation is I have Goodyear Supercars EMT on the rear that have come to the end of their life and Pirelli P Zero RF on the front which still have about 5mm tread left.
The ideal solution would be to fit P Zeros to the rear but it would appear that there is no stock and Pirelli can't say when they will manufacture any more.

I can get the Goodyears in several days but I was kind of hoping to try a different manufacturer after reading that there are quiter tyres out there, the
Goodyears do seem to generate a lot of road noise.

I would prefer to have the same make of tyres on both axels but does it make that much difference, to have different front to back as long as they are the same on each axel.
I use the car mainly road use with the odd track/ airfield day thrown in.

I would be grateful for any comments or advice.

Bridgestone RFs are supposed to be pretty good and I can personally vouch for Michelin PilotSport Zero Pressures (ZP) as being superb... very nearly as good as regular PilotSports.

Mixing manufacturer/tread pattern front/rear isn't really an issue... just doesn't 'look' good if you're a bit OCD like me smile

I had a quick look the other day in case my puncture couldn't be repaired (which luckily it could). Found these at what looks like a good price on Fleabay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pirelli-PZero-285-35-19-...

Oh yes, and they are much better than the Goodyears!

Thanks for that information, looks good so I bought two of those.
I have really struggled to obtain these despite the hours spent on line and ringing round. In fact any tyres that size.
Never thought of fleabay, if all turns out well, it will be an ideal scenario because I do prefer same rubber all round, though I doubt it
makes a big difference.
Thanks once again for your help.

Good result - Well done. Can I ask what I hope is not a dumb question? Is there anyone out there who has replaced their original equipment Goodyear F1 Supercar run-flats with non run-flat tyres? If so, and presuming you don't have a spare wheel in the car, do you just run around with an aerosol can (or two?) of puncture repair foam or something else? I found this ContiComfortkit (air compressor & sealant) on the Tirerack website the other day. I was wondering if this would be an item worth having if I was thinking of non run-flats when I need new tyres?
