ZR1 footballers car? Whew, that was close !
Discussion
wages of £250k a week and a free ZR1?
Footballers driving down the values of our favourite jalopies?
Thanks Sir Alex, common sense prevails. It looks like Rooney needs a Spark, so make sure he gets one in time for the next England game instead of a ZR1.

ETA - if the ZR1 is up for £70k as per the article, I'll have 6 please and they'll be on ebay tomorrow (well, maybe 5 to pay for the other one which I shall keep).

Some of you may know that I am actually involved with Chevrolet's sponsorship deal with MUFC particularly given the involvement of Corvette. Chevrolet are contracted to provide a number of cars to first team players, senior management and coaches. The vehicles which have been made available include Corvette Grand Sport Targa and Convertible. Z06 and ZR-1 have not been offered to anyone affiliated with this deal. MUFC's decision to restrict some players choice of vehicle is purely down to insurance reasons and nothing more and this article is a work of fiction.
As for driving down values I actually think this has more chance of doing the opposite as it means greater exposure for Corvette and Camaro. As the cars will be returned to Chevrolet at a later date you won't see any extreme bodykits or customisation either so no need to panic.
As for £70,000 ZR-1's, you can't even get a new one out of the states regardless of taxes and duty for that.....bloody journos.

Journalists who know fk all about their subject matter and read off the autocue sheep like deserve to be ritually.........and as for the researchers who don't actually bother to check their facts they should be at the back of the jobless queue immediately.
Was watching a piece about the discovery of the missing #1 Cunningham Corvette on Autosheep the other day the idiot women presenting was spouting utter B.S. during most of the piece. Larry Miller found the car apparently!

A mate of mine was a researcher in the Telegraph's library for many years, as was his dad before him. He was made redundant a few years ago as were all the others. I guess putting correct facts to print no longer matters........Was watching a piece about the discovery of the missing #1 Cunningham Corvette on Autosheep the other day the idiot women presenting was spouting utter B.S. during most of the piece. Quite possibly - no such thing as bad publicity etc. Not enough smileys after that statement in my original post deriding footballer types effect on items / fashion with the fans, and the inverse perception by non-fans.Just promise not to sell one to Katie Price.

Heh heh. I was only pulling your chain Mitch. We all know that Chevy give them to you for free, you keep all the sales revenue personally, do not declare any of it on the company books ever, and send 10% back to the US in hard drugs via an innocent looking 80-something grandmother courier with an excessive condom supply and roomy orifices.Well, that's what my Nan told me anyway. It may not be all true, her mind is going a little these days
