Dont you just love them! Last year in preparation for its Mot I ran all the check and found my washers were not working. No probs the pump was 40 years old and I could see that the main cog in the pump was plastic and it had stripped. I ordered a replacement from the USA fitted it and problem solved, MOT passed and another happy years motoring.
So last week in preparation for the MOT I run the same checks and guess what, the washers were'nt working! Bare in mind that over the past year the washers (or indeed the wipers) were never used, this time I could see that everytime the pump came under load the main cog was deflecting and jumping in other words a piece of complete crap! The solution was to fit a small Lucas electric pump discretely under the wiper motor using the wiring from the original switch, cost £10 rather than £30, its reliable and unless you do a lot of digging and searching it looks absolutely std.

But why oh why can they not make after market parts to a decent quality, I see it again and again and the problem starts with the retailer, if they didn't agree to sell this crap then the manufacturers would be forced to improve the quality!

Sorry Rant over!
