Someone has given my ZR1 a couple of black eyes!!
Discussion
Courtesy of Bauer Millett supplied (or should that say supEYED?) and Ian Goss services fitting them today of course.
The front reg plate will appear in a different format soon.
If anyone out there knows which plonker screwed the plate holder on with two dirty great screws do let me know. There will be at least 50 Vette owners that I know who would like to "have a word"

If it's any consolation there's plenty of US cars with the same holes - boils my proverbial as I'm moving to a state where the front plate is mandatory but I'll be taking it off for events and get to see the same horrid holes.
The black eyes look great though, suits the yellow! Lovely car BTW

Thank you Stu.
Yep, I am pleased with the machine. Only got 400 miles on the milometer so far, too busy at work to put any miles on it and the first 2 weeks of ownership it didn't stop peeing down.
You can specify black lights on any new Vette now and against the velocity yellow I think it looks particularly good. It's a $580 option if you spec off the factory options list, you don't want to know how much if you buy them after...
Best of luck in the USA and just make sure you STICK your plate holder on...
Here's a fuller image - spot the off side washer cover missing - flew off on Sunday when I took it for a short drive. Don't you just love GM build quality? Still, they really shouldn't be there in the first place, just some inane EU regulation as usual.

GM quality? Could be worse, could be a Ford
I'm buying used, so chances are it'll be a pair of self tapping screws holding it on. Still, it'll look like hammered sh*t after a few runs down a texas mile anyway I expect so I'll worry about cosmetics later
Hi Stu, I live in Illinois where front plates are mandatory too.......I'm buying used, so chances are it'll be a pair of self tapping screws holding it on. Still, it'll look like hammered sh*t after a few runs down a texas mile anyway I expect so I'll worry about cosmetics later
.....as you can see I obey the law.....NOT!
Nice lights BTW Martin.....perhaps you should just buy a whole new front clip to get rid of the screw holes and the headlight washers as I don't think they are required for the MOT.

Ahh, I know that Mitch, your guys wouldn't have been so cruel.... besides I have a photo of it coming out of the docks last year clearly showing two screw holes to the front fender!!
Here's the car on a transporter having just been loaded off Tilbury Docks on it's onward journey to your gaff at Manchester. Look very carefully and you can see the screw holes
(actually at the rez uploaded you can't see them, but on the original image you can)
Here's a few more images before most of the "upgrades"

Thank you for all the good comments guys.
I always modify any car I buy to make it my own and having bought three in the last six months, non have escaped paint work mods, light changes and performance parts of course. I always keep all the original stuff and pass on to the new owner if they want them. The Audi R8 V10 Spyder was the only car that escaped - although it was only a matter of time!
Regarding front plates I agree, there shouldn't be one. My last two C6's I'd stuck a small plate to the right of the bumper, "Alpha" style. This time I have got my paint shop to modify the original "cereal size box" plate holder, cutting it down to only 3" in height, colour matching it with the rest of the car, (thank you Motomarque of Chertsey) and even re-profiling the sides. It will be back on the ZR1 tomorrow so I'll post some images up for a thumbs up or down. Whilst it’s there they are spraying the replacement headlamp washer cover....
We offered the unpainted trimmed down holder up to the bumper today and I thought it looked pretty cool. Will look 100% better when all you'll see is a tiny VRN plate mounted to it. Watch this space and all comments gratefully received..

A definate improvement that looks good. But, and I hope it's OK to make comments good or bad, I'd be tempted to have a plate that covers the entire flat area of the mounting so that the edges fed straight to the plate without any flat areas showing, if you know what I mean. Shame about the holes in the bumper, without those I would have mounted the small plate beneath the bumper, unless that would affect air flow in to the radiator. Alternatively, given that there are already holes in the bumper, I think I would have used heat to bend the plate to the same profile as the bumper and mount it direct as I think that might look cleaner and sleeker. All just my thoughts though and no offence or criticism intended.
